I had no idea that Renforth was one of the mobility hubs TJ Opootertoot is always talking about. Why is no one talking about this publicly. Someone needs to bring it up at the debates.

While we're at it:

The airport will be a hub connection for the UPX, Eglinton Crosstown, Finch West LRT (future phase) and the future 427 rapid transit.

Jane-Eglinton would also be a big mobility hub, connecting to the Jane LRT which would also have been under construction, if Transit City wasn't cancelled.

Man... It's like there are two different plans going forth. This would have been a huge game changer for the that corridor between Jane-Sheppard and the Crosstown. I also see Kennedy in Scarborough as a mobility hub but not Ellesmere or Lawrence East/Kingston.

A large share of the ridership will be higher income earners. but if they take the UPX instead of a personal car or taxi, aren't we still achieving the main transportation objective? No one at Metrolinx or in the government will admit it, but it is designed for these people, because they are frequent flyers which is expensive. As morally bad as it looks, it won't prohibit a regular Joe from taking it for an annual or semi-annual trip. It's just numbers people.

Eglinton West to downtown will take a bit longer and require a transfer or two, and that's okay for those of us that only want to pay TTC fare instead of UPX fare. It will also be fairer for those that don't fly at all and commute to/from work near the airport.

I agree, and I was also thinking that that you bring the DRL up to Weston and avoid flooding the YUS. Same with out east. and Don Millls. I feel the UPX is for the upper class and people like us, like you said, could benefit from a line That actually connect all of Toronto from border.

With the available Richview corridor and the huge mandatory underground section, I don't understand why Toronto is bothering with LRT along Eglinton at all. It doesn't make any sense.
 
Assuming you're advocating for grade separation, it would cost a lot more money for which the ridership doesn't really justify.

I agree. If it's LRT it should be above ground this strech. It's either Eglinton was going to be all subway or it's the current plan. We're too far in the current plan.
 
Building in the Richview corridor might not be much more expensive than building in the street median. t least, that option should be explored and priced.

One big reason is that there'd need to be a forced transfer at the terminals of the underground section (likely at Weston and Don Mills, where ridership would drop off). We're not building a subway that only 5,000 persons will use per hour. That's how you get a Sheppard. Do we want to pull a Sheppard? I don't think we want to pull a Sheppard. ;)
