As someone who takes this bus between the two transfer points, 14 minutes is very generous. You get bottle necked in so much traffic at Avenue, Allan, and leaving Cedarvale station. Going East is not as bad, but going west is painfully slow. It could easily be 25 minutes plus.

My guess is maybe about 7 minutes or less between Eglinton and Cedarvale. There are 3 stops the train has to make, but they aren't that far apart.
I don't take this route often, maybe once every 2 weeks in the summer. But I was also surprised by the 14 minute estimate by Google maps.

looks like 19 mins rn on google maps. Thats also getting off at duplex instead of within the fair paid terminal at eglinton so more like 20-21 minutes

And don't forget this bus is very inconsistent. Plenty of times the screens show something is coming to Eglinton station in 2 minutes, but nothing shows up for 10. Buses also get super crowded with highschool students and office workers during rush hour, so sometimes you can't even get on the bus. For this central section (the part that I will use), it will reduce my travel time to line 1 by a significant margin. Plus, no more waiting in the freezing cold.

(again trying to inject some positivity into this thread of way too much doom and gloom)

5 minutes of walking? Google can be funny, having one walk around a station for a long time, to go 10 metres.

Do many people get off at Duplex and then walk to the station, rather than staying on to the terminal? I'm seeing 20 minutes westbound with zero walking at PM peak.

Very good point. I went to look to the PM peak Thursday at Transsee (the most recent TWH). Eastbound at Eglinton, despite the 10-minute scheduling, it shows a 24-minute gap at 5 pm and a 28-minute gap at 6 pm.

To compare to the scheduled 20-minutes westbound. Gosh, a 37-minute gap at 5 pm. Departed 16:43 from Eglinton (19' 44" late) arrived Eglinton West 17:09, only 26.5 minutes late. Travel time was 26 minutes.

But some here will say that bus is best!

Presentation at the TTC - Strategic Planning Committee on the 2026 budget includes a slide (page 6) that includes this caveat:
*For planning purposes, the 2026 Budget assumes a December 2025 start date for Line 6 and January 2026 for Line 5. Actual opening dates are still pending Metrolinx confirmation

A lot of people get off at Duplex, but generally to catch an eastbound bus at the stop on Duplex northbound, or to walk to their final destination on Eglinton, Yonge or Duplex.

I can't say that I've seen many people get off at Duplex and then walk to the station.

aaaaa
Maybe they're simulating standard TTC bunching? /s

*sigh* and training operators how to do it really well

- Paul

PS - on the bright side - if as reported they have been having trouble getting the signalling system to manage close headways, the bunch may be quite deliberate and a sign of the problem being fixed
