They still haven't announced it though. Nothing in the news.
On the Gregorian or Julian calendar? A 13-day difference,
If you're getting off a bus in the Mount Dennis terminal, you can expect to walk between 160 to 290 metres depending on which bay you get up at. The walk from the Weston Rd entrance to the platform is around 180m (the trains stop at the eastern 2/3rd of the platform but the stairs are at the west end)200 metres the norm? That's near double the distance at Cedarvale. And surely it's relatively short at Eglinton, Mount Dennis, and Kennedy
Don Valley to the bus terminal is only about 100 metres. Caledonia should be miniscule transfering from the subway station to the GO station which is almost on top of the subway platform. On the Ontario Line, the transfers at Exhibition, Queen, Osgoode, and East Harbour look short. Hopefully Pape too, with the new platforms under the old platforms.
Might be some good walking distances to the bus terminals on the Line 2 extension ... but that appears to be the exception not the norm.
They just chose not to open the station as it was in the middle of a forest till development caught up. Oppose to these Crosstown stations that can't open cause who knows what is ML hiding. If it makes anyone feel better (though it may make you feel worse), today's Wikipedia front page "did you know" first headline is about an LRT station in Singapore that opened 20 years after construction completed. (It opened a year ago.)
Yeah I had to dig into it too, which goes to show this is *not* making us feel better. Thanks for trying though A.They just chose not to open the station as it was in the middle of a forest till development caught up. i mean this is at the top of the stations page on the websiteWhy is the name change so under the radar? Why not just announce it like the change from Downsview to Sheppard West in 2017?
The TTC has never designed a connection like that, so I'm not sure what the point of your pondering is supposed to achieve. The current final result is definitely an adequate setup to have. Now I'm wondering how painful the walk would have been if the Line 5 concourse entered the Line 1 platforms in the middle rather than the end, causing people who get off at the southern end needing to go north to the middle then backtrack south to get transfer to the Line 5 platforms.
Right, but significant mixed signals, no?i mean this is at the top of the stations page on the website

signs are changing but the name has not officially changed yet
You can't do everything overnight. They haven't done their official changeover yet - I assume that will be opening day for Line 5.Right, but significant mixed signals, no?
because the name hasnt changed yet???

You see the same in other cities. I was in Seattle a month before the Lynwood extension of the Link - and it was a mix of old and new signage. Announcements, etc.
I assume it will be more synchronous electronically. Though I'd think Metrolinx is wrong, given that TTC only put up the "soon" signage for Cedarvale and TMU stations starting around the 16th! Obviously the decision isn't Metrolinx's to make. But per my previous post, web info should be easier to queue up. And my impression from the news releases from Metrolinx / the province is that 'the name changed effective November 16'.
Since the signage change is happening gradually, is there ever going to be a date that can be pinned down as the "official" date? Maybe count the signs, and when more than 50% say Cedarville, it's official?I assume it will be more synchronous electronically.
