​ Extended: Platform Remedial Works on Eglinton Avenue East between Brentcliffe Road and Kennedy Road​

What Work is Taking Place?​

Works expected to be completed by mid-October 2025 will continue until late-October 2025. Crews will continue remedial works at platform stops along Eglinton Avenue East, between Brentcliffe Road and Kennedy Road. To facilitate this work safely, periodic short-term rolling lane closures will be in place. Crews will move along the guideway, performing remedial works at one location at a time. Remedial activities include the replacement of damaged guardrails and platform shelter glazing panels as needed, cleaning of guardrails and glazing panels, and concrete remedial repairs at platform stops as needed. Access to properties will be maintained. One lane of traffic will be maintained on Eglinton Avenue East. This work is expected to take place on Monday – Friday, between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. On occasion, work may be required to take place on Saturday – Sunday, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Upon completion of this work, periodic short term lane reductions may be required on Eglinton Avenue East to facilitate special activities.​

What to Expect​

Concrete barriers, fencing, and signage will be in place to delineate the work zones. Noise from construction activities can be expected. One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained. Expect delays while travelling through the area.

Hours of Work​

Through until approximately late-October 2025. This work is expected to take place from Monday – Friday between approximately 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. On occasion, work may be required to take place on Saturday – Sunday, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Work may be rescheduled due to weather or unforeseen circumstances. This work may be longer or shorter than expected.

Traffic Details​

Periodic short-term rolling lane closures will be required on Eglinton Avenue East between Brentcliffe Road and Kennedy Road. One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained.

Pedestrian Details​

No changes to the current pedestrian routes are expected because of this work.

Does anyone know why they waited until the crosstown is "finished" instead of building it in one go with the LRT station?

The American 15 minutes depends on the systems and it more like 30-60 on systems I have seen. Even LRT service starts at 15 depending on the day and time of day.

People here complain about how bad our service is over 10 minutes and should be glad they don't use the US systems as anything under 15 minutes is premium service to the US systems as well in Europe.

Don’t compare to American cities, they are the barrel bottom standards. Comparing to European and East Asian standards, our reliability is quite bad. Especially when 10 minute means 10 min average ranging between 1-20 minutes. The GO has better scheduling but they are still using century old diesel technology trains.

If an LRT sees its shadow on October 2, it means there will be six more weeks of construction.

Not likely. This work is about fixing up damaged parts of the above ground stops. This work shouldn't have any impact on the LRVs being able to continue their RSD testing.

It may not be "part of the Crosstown LRT" but it "is one with the Crosstown LRT" (much like the Eglinton Connects streetscape) in it lethargic delivery. All three components were part of the early public sessions to sell the benefits of then "Transit City" and the LRT. The first post in this Caledonia Station forum thread had pictures, but it was discussed in 2010 that this is was to be a future station. Josh Matlow keeps on wanting to have a big investigation into what went wrong with Eglinton LRT, but the real mystery (now that Caldonia GO is starting construction) is where is Eglinton Connects and it is actually city jurisdiction. I guess Metrolinx delivering the Crosstown LRT in 17 years didn't give the city enough time to plan after those 60 public consultations over 2 years back in 2012-2013.

I wandered down to Mount Dennis station to see if I could get up to the bus terminal and although the buses were coming in and out on their new routes, there was security there stopping pedestrians from heading up to the building unfortunately

There are stops at the no frills there and that's where people were getting on and off but the bus continued up to the station after that 'final' stop. At least as far I could see! I hung around for about 5 mins

They are using the new station only to turn buses around since the Eglinton buses are still in their pre-Line 5 configuration. The stop at the No Frills makes it easier to transfer to the 32. Once Line 5 opens the last stop will be the station and the 32 and 34 will start and end there.

They should keep that stop there for people wanting to shop at No Frills but you know the TTC, they don’t understand about people’s convenience.

Back in the EA days, there was a plan to run the buses from Black Creek onto Photography Dr instead of having them turn at Eglinton and then turn again onto Keelesdale Rd. Too bad Crosslinx blocked that road with their construction stuff.
