If Revenue Service testing is starting, unless serious problems are found, public opening should not be far off. When we saw this here in Ottawa for Line 2 late last year, opening came a couple of months later. This is good news.
You need to stop trying to apply Ottawa's experiences to this. They simply don't apply.

The TTC has been building, testing, commissioning and operating rapid transit lines and systems for far, far longer than Ottawa. They have a lot more experience and history to draw upon.

In all fairness though this "Bedding in" phase is completely new, stemmed from the confederation line inquiry. There is not definitive timeline for how long it will take so we wont know until they tell us

It starts August 3rd.

Looks like a December 21st opening folks. 30 days brings us to September 2nd. 14 days after that to certify for substantial completion. Then finally 90 days for bedding in. This brings us to December 15, 2025.

""Substantial Completion", which is expected to be 14 days after the completion ofRevenue Service Demonstration. Substantial Completion requires an IndependentCertifier to confirm (or certify) that CTS has demonstrated the successful delivery of Line5 to a level of completion suitable for revenue service, consistent with the requirementsin CTS’ contract with Metrolinx."

Except that the TTC has been doing a "bedding in" on every line launched since the original section of the Yonge line in 1954. That's what that 2 or 3 board periods is for prior to opening up the line for real, amongst other things. It shakes down the various systems in advance of things going live, and allows all of the staff the opportunity not just to familiarize themselves with the line, but also to ensure that when things go all pear-shaped that everyone knows what to do.

Just because someone has decided to give it a shiny new name doesn't mean that it's not the same old process.

Right 8 years after the Spadina subway extension!

I don’t keep up with this project very much, but if that started today wouldn’t most of these be out of the yard?

Was near Eglinton and Leslie for almost 10 minutes and didn't see any trains around 1:50. Oddly enough the eastbound displays said 25 min for the next lrv, while the westbound ones were saying 3 and 6 min

So I guess it’s safe to assume no beginning to school opening (which is what I predicted for 2024 and now 2025)….I’m glad I’m not a betting person.
