Sure, but those are bank headquarters in multi-tenant buildings. Are people excited to visit for their banking needs though? To a certain extent. King and Bay has banks on all four corners and are retail hubs as well.

BMO doesn't need a storefront for exposure. They have an entire city block on the upper floors of the Eaton Centre. These used to be billboards, BMO signage/displays along Yonge and signage at their office entrance on Dundas would be highly visible on their own.Banks just do it for exposure. If they weren't in such locations you wouldn't be talking about them right now.
100% agree. All about the $$$. PfftBMO doesn't need a storefront for exposure. They have an entire city block on the upper floors of the Eaton Centre. These used to be billboards, BMO signage/displays along Yonge and signage at their office entrance on Dundas would be highly visible on their own.
(Replace the Nordstrom signs with BMO)

Cadillac Fairview is taking the short term lease money and forgetting how a bank with sealed doors is diminishing the Eaton Centre's presence at Yonge and Dundas. Make this an attraction and it suddenly changes the vibe of the intersection. Look at the M&Ms store at Times Square. It's always slammed and you've got families going in and out and frequenting the store. Unlike a bank, an M&Ms or Lego store would drive traffic through that store into the mall.
I also noticed the Uniqlo logos above the store's main entrance are screens too (not sure if I just never noticed or that was done as part of the recent renovations).
Thank god, I was running low on charged particles.
I'm assuming that given the signs for Nordstom were there before, BMO's lease doesn't give them rights to the signage, so not much they can do. Also I'm sure CF prefers to be advertising a mall anchor store than an office, otherwise we'd have seen BMO signage go up after Nordstrom left (if they were presumably interested in giving the signage rights to BMO, and BMO wanted the signs for themselves). That doesn’t make a lot of sense to be a Simons sign on BMO’s façade. I can’t imagine the Bank of Montreal is happy with it.
And there’s another one waiting to be added further down. In total, there’ll be 5, count them FIVE Simons signs on this exterior, plus 3 inside in the main mall atrium and 2 in the Dundas atrium. I wonder if people will figure out where Simons is.
I'll see if I can find out any scuttlebutt...That doesn’t make a lot of sense to be a Simons sign on BMO’s façade. I can’t imagine the Bank of Montreal is happy with it.

I still don't know where Simons is! - what CF higher ups must be worrying for client exposure. That doesn’t make a lot of sense to be a Simons sign on BMO’s façade. I can’t imagine the Bank of Montreal is happy with it.
