The corner windows are now revealed. I'd say this looks pretty pretty good.

These windows are larger than what was here during Nordstrom's era. My mockup on what was changing seems pretty much on the mouche:

And also larger than SEARS' glazing:

Further down along the Yonge façade, my hunch about Club Monaco on the right and the other unit (previously a hair dresser) on the left, appears to be panning out. Cadillac Fairview seems to be preparing to consolidate a feature tenant around the garage entrance.

No scaffolding just yet but the parkade entrance is preparing for "construction". I imagine that this entire façade will soon be covered in scaffolding soon.

Both ground floor units have been unleased for half a decade.

They can be made to connect on the second floor window over the parkade entrance or they can remain 2 separate units:

The "Construction" referenced on the sign is a structural rehabilitation of the parking garage's 5th floor.

It’s looking better than before. I think a few LED walls would’ve added more visual impact to the area’s character and animated the street more. But it’s still an improvement over the Sears and Northstrom we had before.

No need for LED walls, trust me. The tiles are facetted so they reflect all sorts of lights from the flickering displays at Yonge Dundas Square.

A 3D cat racoon like the Shinjuku one would be really fun.

I've personally hated that thing since it debuted. It's gimmicky and only effective in a very small viewing angle. That media and influencers have called it "3D" (other than the CGI used to produce it, it's not) or "holographic" is ignorant. It's a forced perspective image, no different than sidewalk art like this.

And the last thing the corner of Yonge & Dundas needs is another giant billboard that will ultimately be used as an advertisement.

Sell to me harder, daddy.

All of the scaffolding has been taken down and now there are just some parts with hoarding and fencing while they work on the street level cladding.

That street level cladding will be black on the Eataly side and on the Simons side, the flat green tile used in the interior of the mall is used around Simons’ Yonge Street entrance.

The collection of materials:

Anticipating comments that this looks like a mishmash, it works quite well in person and I can see how it’ll come together once the remaining cladding is applied. The dark colours work nicely at street level.

A view from the north:

Work is proceeding inside of Eataly. It’s nowhere near complete, making it clear that Simons will open first before Nike and Eataly are ready.

It's so crazy to think of how much that space has changed over the years and decades. From Eatons, to Sears, Nordstrom now to Simons. The outside changed a lot.
