Paris' lines have plenty of curvy platforms. It blew the kid's mind when we were there at Christmas.
My mind was blown when I saw at least one NYC subway platform wasn't perfectly flat & level, and had a noticeable slope & vertical curve when looking from one end of the platform to the other (forgot which station I was at, probably 42nd or 34th or something like that).Paris' lines have plenty of curvy platforms. There are many stations in NYC that have whacky curves and slopes, however I think the station you're thinking of is 34th Street-Herald Square on the 6th Avenue Line. Basically that whole station was a massive game of threading the needle: The line had to go above the East River Tunnels (the access to Penn Station from the east), whilst also going under the existing BMT Broadway Line. This lead to the station having wonky elevation changes to pass between them.My mind was blown when I saw at least one NYC subway platform wasn't perfectly flat & level, and had a noticeable slope & vertical curve when looking from one end of the platform to the other (forgot which station I was at, probably 42nd or 34th or something like that).
Is actually two shades of orange if you look closely... Deceptive much?View attachment 644468
Not to mention one of them coming dangerously close to line 1 yellowI hope this isn’t official because if it is…that’s just incredibly ignorant. There’s like a billion colours to choose from they HAD to do with that shade?
The McCowan Yard for the former RT located on Ellesmere?Tunnelling update (sort of):
Lot behind McCowan Yard (north side) is now filling up with pre-cast tunneling segments
675 Progress to be exact. The McCowan Yard for the former RT located on Ellesmere?
Wow I’m surprised to hear this. On the massive abandoned/vacant lot or within the TTC property?675 Progress to be exact.
On the north side of the RT tracks? I think 675 and 695 Progress have the same ownership. The yard and barn are on 1720 Ellesmere, legally at least.nWow I’m surprised to hear this. On the massive abandoned/vacant lot or within the TTC property?
Let's see if they can keep to the "May 1-5" closure.
They're finally closing the highway ramp near 401 in anticipation of TBM operations!
Either they need to repair the TBM or they will anticipate it will need a bit of "help" getting moving. Good news either way I think!
I don't understand the secrecy about the cause of this closure. They're finally closing the highway ramp near 401 in anticipation of TBM operations!

I just hope that the rest of the soil conditions along the route are not as bad as the ones encountered near the 401I don't understand the secrecy about the cause of this closure.
Having to close these roads while the TBM transits the area could mean that they've unexpectedly encountered some very poor ground conditions (a patch of very loosely compacted sand for example) which could result in subsidence at ground level when they cut through below. That should be easy to explain to the public. With tunnelling the only way to fully understand ground conditions along the route is to dig the tunnel, prior to that you only know the condition where you drilled boreholes.
