Prepare your pitchforks:
I’m not particularly upset with the loss of these trees, but I expect better transparency from ML.
They can't even start station construction at sheppard until the TBM is finished its journey and all the support infrastructure has been taken outI’m not particularly upset with the loss of these trees, but I expect better transparency from ML.
I’m sure there’s a good reason but they’re laughing if they want us to believe the station construction requires tree removal more than 100m from the station box.
I'll update this thread if I see dump trucks moving in and out of the launch site this coming week.Noticed most of the equipment at McCowan/401 is now gone, maybe the TBM is fixed and moving again? One can hope![]()
Since they extended the bus platforms at STC station but didn't build new shelters, the guideway is serving as a nice umbrella in the rain.
Anybody knowledgeable about drilling here? I find it very hard to believe that an experienced contractor would just be allowed to sit around and seemingly do nothing for almost a year. Unless they really need all that time to plan the next steps, but so far it doesn’t seem like much has happened at the intervention site.
Sometimes I see some crane movement to lift things in and out of the pit and workers walking around.Basically there is no agreement what to do with the STC guideway yet so it's staying up. One option is to maintain it as an active transportation "greenway", similar to something NYC is doing.
Aren't there trucks hauling away excavation every day at Sheppard/McCowan?I pass by the site at Sheppard and McCowan once/twice a day and I never see trucks hauling stuff.
Most of the trucking should be for the tunnelled material - but that hasn't happened for years now.Aren't there trucks hauling away excavation every day at Sheppard/McCowan?
Much of the land that the guideway is built upon is owned by third parties and leased back to the City/TTC for the guideway for the sole purpose of using it as a rapid transit corridor.Basically there is no agreement what to do with the STC guideway yet so it's staying up. One option is to maintain it as an active transportation "greenway", similar to something NYC is doing.
So actually it seems like the opposite is true. I saw at least 2 large excavators at the 401 ramp site and a lot of workers walking around and patrolling the entrance to the site.Noticed most of the equipment at McCowan/401 is now gone, maybe the TBM is fixed and moving again? One can hope![]()
Ya the 2 crane trucks disappeared so I was hopeful. So actually it seems like the opposite is true. I saw at least 2 large excavators at the 401 ramp site and a lot of workers walking around and patrolling the entrance to the site.
Meanwhile traffic has been at a standstill on mccowan because some people from “salus” were setting up a road monitoring camera.
There’s also a relatively deep excavation pit near mccowan and triton road, not sure what that is for.
No sign of any changes at the launch site, no trucks. Just workers milling around and patrolling the entrance.
