For comparison's sake, HelloBike in China is roughly $0.30 per 15 minutes with larger cities being cheaper. Base transit costs for subway start around $0.35 depending on the metro.
Why compare to a backwards Asian communist military dictatorship?

Let's stock to advanced democracies ... and the USA.

Philadelphia at ~$20 for a 30 minute E-bike trip.......... LOL that's USD no less!
So that one jumped out at me too, however there is more to it than the chart lets on. As well, that the price has come down substantially since this article was published.

The Wayback Machine had a convenient cache for the fee page on July 25th, the day before the cited date:

At the time there were no single ride options and so it appears they took a $15 day pass along with an e-bike fee 20¢/min to get the 30 minute $21 total. The user could of course take multiple additional rides on the day with a pedal bike for no additional charge, or electric for just the per minute fee.

The lower price today is owing to Philadelphia having since introduced a single 30 minute ride for $4.50. Along with an e-bike fee of 30¢/min today's total cost would be $13.50.
See: https://www.rideindego.com/buy-a-pass/#/

Still at the higher end, but it now seems to slot in around the values for Oakland, San Jose & San Francisco that are in the chart.

That's not to say I think any of these prices are reasonable, but this graphic might be hiding other such pricing mismatches for the sake of delivering an easily digestible picture of the situation. I'm inclined to view this chart more as an indicator of the degree to which a given city views tourists as walking wallets, if they consider them in the bike share systems at all.

Toronto is sane by comparison. Still, notably more than TTC. Worth considering that the TTC is expected to recover ~60c on the dollar, where Bikeshare is aiming to break even. What would Bike share look like fare-wise if the goal were the same as TTC?

And there are major potential cuts coming to SEPTA.

Bikeshare Stations +5 now at 916.

The new locations are generally in central Scarborough this time.

Also new/restored is Front/Simcoe

Would you stop with your sad faces every time I post in this thread @Towered LOL

You know your area isn't getting more than a token station or two, because your councillor didn't want them.

Run against him next year.

I have your slogan ready.

Read a comment online recently from a city staffer that each e-bike in Toronto is used 5x/day vs 2x/day for the classic. Keeping the bikes charged a complicated challenge
I wonder if this has resulted in an internal policy of restocking the stations in Midtown Toronto with 100% electric bikes in the hopes that they get some charge in.

It is a tad annoying because sometimes you want a classic bike for the trip downhill to downtown and you see the stations with 10 ebikes and zero classic ones. I won't complain though, as the norm is for Midtown Toronto to not have bikes restocked at all.

you know how every problem is always solved with money? well if they upgraded every dock to electric charge we wouldnt have this issue LOL

North West Scarborough has been added to the network. The stations below are all new in the last week:

Also new is this one in East Scarborough:

We're now at 927 Docks/Stations with about another 110 or so to go.

I still strongly think Dawes and Gower needs one 😂.

I agree. Its in the cue. I'm not holding my breath for this year, but we'll see.

Not announced yet, but more expansion should be coming next year.

Good to hear!

Also as for NW Scarborough above, seems like a missed opportunity not to have a station at Agincourt GO. Perhaps that's yet to come.

I am excited to see the final expansion rollout this year.

Overall it's nice to see progress with Bike Share, it really adds a lot to people's ability to get around the city without a car.

And thanks for the update posts! It's nice to see the new stations visualized on a map.

People on Reddit speculating that Lime e-bikes are coming to Toronto based on several being spotted near Union Station. I assume it's just people taking them on the GO train from Mississauga.

Though for whatever reason I can reserve them Lime e-bikes on the app and four parking locations also show up...

I am curious, I am assuming Lime would need permission from the city to operate? Anyone know?

I tired these in Mississauga, and wasn't a fan. The motor assist turns off at 20 km per hour, which is pretty slow (it's 25 km/h for Bike Share), and based on your GPS location it slows the top speed down to 13 km/h on some MUP's and just turns it off the motor on some busy roads they don't want you to cycle on, despite it being legal to cycle there.
