Why is the tent still there?
The tent belongs to the City and I was told it will stay where it is until they decide where it will be moved to and exactly what will go on that site -the tent was purchased by the City rather than rented so that it could be relocated. and it does make sense to 'store' it where it is (until the fate of that site is determined). It will now NOT be the new District Library and it may well be returned to Parks as an extension of David Crombie Park . (The Antique Market is also still using it - though they could move to the new North Market soon.)

Though this kind of routine 'upkeep' should not merit being posted, I post this as the SLRC has had poor air conditioning and leaking roof for years and this is SO overdue! Another example of the disfunction in the Parks Department.

Bombay Palace has finally, finally closed. While it served as my rather late introduction to the wonders of Indian food, when I last went there 7 or 8 years ago it was terrible. The brownish, watery mess on our plates inspired my former partner to remark: "Oooo, look at the yummy shit sauce they've served us!" 😆

That's a shame, apparently they closed a month ago and I missed it. We had a few meals from them during the pandemic lockdowns and shortly after and we thought they were very good, and a better deal than some of the newer trendier options around. Maybe you hit them during some sort of bad spell, because they usually were quite consistent over the years. It's a loss for the area.

With the news of the 125 The Esplanade site being temporarily advanced as an "interim park", this thread can continue to be used for discussion of the New St. Lawrence Library

In that case

Confidential attachment with the reveal of the secret site still not opened but if you were to wander around the Queen Parliament area you might see a likely candidate!

One of my neighbours got this a day or so ago from cycling about the pause in bike track work on The Esplanade west of Market Street:

"The remaining work along the Esplanade (Market to Scott Street) has been delayed due some technical issues. Minor amendments to the bylaw are required before the work could proceed. These changes are expected to be enacted shortly, and we anticipate that the remaining work will be completed by the end of August.

As mentioned, the rest of the cycling improvements will be bundled with the DCPR project. I’m just looping in Nancy Chater, who provide additional updates on this timeline."

Ominously, no minor by-law amendments came to Council yesterday so .... Grrrrrrr

CORRECTION. Thanks to @TwoWheelPoli and his/her sharp eyes there WAS a by-law amendment dealing with parking. It may be back on track

Could this new signage mean that something is actually going to happen?? It is Parks so one has doubts! Even for them, the timeline seems unnecessarily leisurely - it is NOT a large park, there is not much underground work to be done since most of the trees will remain.
It feels inexcusable if this isn't pretty much ready for next spring. It's not like they didn't have a decade's notice as the North Market was also being leisurely constructed. From what I remember of the plan here, it's essentially resurfacing and plantings, and maybe only the decommissioning of the former fountain causing minor complications.

That pretty much sums it up... https://www.toronto.ca/city-governm...-redevelopment/market-lane-park-improvements/
