Strange but ok I guess?
I kind of wonder about her and her plans, but she seems to have some ability to fund or finance this, so we will have to take what she says as stated unless proven otherwise.

There is a bidding process and perhaps other offers have made too, so the sellers may not say much until the offers are evaluated and a deal is made.

About friggin' time!

An entire store dedicated to "Cheesecake?" Then to qualify even further, "Japanese Cheesecake." Who knew the Japanese were famous for their Cheesecake?"

Word is the two Edmonton Bay stores the Chinese billionaire in BC is taking over the leases for are Southgate and WEM. Will be interesting to see what she does with the Southgate store. That’s a huge footprint.
Any word on if Canadian Tire secured any leases? Read they had bid on some as well. Even though mall anchor isn't their retail MO, the Bay space in WEM would have been a great space for Canadian Tire to occupy, and they could consolidate their existing WEM Mark's space into it. Plus they're supposed to be closing their 170 st location to move to 186 st, which opens up more market area for a WEM store.

Not sure about Edmonton, but CT likely didn’t bid on Kingsway and St Albert as they’ve got existing stores just down the road from both malls.

Don’t quote me on this either, but I’d assume there would be a provision in the lease with Toyota at WEM that would prohibit someone else from opening that offers oil changes/automotive services.

Down the road from Kingsway and WEM yes, but it would be great if they got the space in Southgate. It would save everyone else on the south side (but close to or north of Southgate) that long trek way, way south.

Signage is up now. It’ll be relocation of Reitmans

Ardene is taking up the rest of the basement level beside Winners. So apart from a couple spaces on the 2nd level near London Drugs the old Sears box will soon be almost fully leased.

Confirmed:

Can't wait to see what they will do with the Bay space!

I hope that Southgate will actually be creative and do something different. Instead of just thinking what store can fill that space, why not think a bit more out of the box. The Woodwards/Sears side got reimagined and now we have a new gathering space and focal point with smaller retailers surrounding. Any kind of idea to reshape could be good, for example a brbn street idea of a restaurant food court comprising of a few resto's like California Pizza Kitchen, PF Changs, Kenny Rogers Roasters, TGI Fridays. Configure it to attach to the mall but perhaps connect the east upper level parkade to be designated parking for that food court. Then linked to that some special attraction on the upper floor of the Bay Space.

Replace those American chains with restaurants that are more national or local and you may have something there.
