Im curious as to what impresses you. If there wasnt a premier like Ford do you think there wouldnt be other premiers commitd to transit and infrastructure. Do you not think that a city's natural progression and state building does not have infrastructure demanded for it.

Reading what youre implying makes it seem like Doug Ford and his team magically came up with the idea of infrastructure
People are giving Dougie credit for (merely) pushing onward with projects because there was a lot of worry when he was first elected that he would slash transit funding.
I hate ford but the liberals only gave a $1.5 discount between go and the TTC, all other non go transfers got zero discount.

When Ford and the PCPO came in, they started throwing money around like they were printing it. Transit is a beneficiary of this (despite deep bore tunnels and other decisions we may live to regret). Had the Liberals done this, the PCPO would have screamed about how they were wasting the taxpayers' money, tax and spend Libs, etc. but they are doing just that, so ...

Yes this is a bit simplified

That would be a good statement if what was currently on the table was Finch West, Eglinton, and Hurontario. (and perhaps Hamilton).

But that doesn't account for the the Ontario Line, Line 2 extension, Line 1 to Richmond Hill, Eglinton West LRT, Eglinton Pearson connection, Line 4 extension, and electrification and extension of the GO RER segments.

Liberals had 15 years to come up with a policy like the One Fare policy and they couldn’t. Because of paying a double fare when crossing Steeles, they had to develop separate bus terminals for the TTC and YRT at Pioneer Village station when it was built.

It took Ford who is so hated here to get rid of this.

How does Sheppard West come into this? The YRT 105 loads right inside the station with the TTC routes (I think there was a time when the YRT 90 did the same at Don Mills, but I don't know if they still do this). Surely making the platform big enough to hold all the YRT routes was all it would have taken?

Province's track record of starting transit projects for the past two to three decades was lacklutre and people complained.
Of course it would be better if the older projects are completed, but accomplishing either one is a win in my opinion.

Where did I mention Sheppard West in my post ? I’m talking about the situation by Pioneer Village station.

Yes, I know.

I'm saying if the fare set up required two separate bus terminals to be built at Pioneer Village, why don't they need one at Sheppard West? And why, now that I think about it, didn't MiWay require its own bus terminal at Islington, or DRT for the 920 at Scarborough Centre?

DRT wanted into STC for years. Even loc councilors were pushing it. It was TTC that said they had no room.

Islington was going to be demolished regardless because of accessibility.

Sorry, I'm not understanding how these circumstances relate to the necessity of building a separate bus terminal for YRT at Pioneer Village. MiWay served Islington for many years prior to that bus terminal being shut down. And DRT started running into STC before fare integration. And YRT has always run into the terminal at Sheppard West. So what was so special about Pioneer Village that that bus terminal had to be separated from the TTC?

Pioneer Village was the new terminal for YRT routes that used to run to York U. That's a lot more routes than the single one that served Downsview or Don Mills so they need more room outside of the fare gates to drop off all passengers.
Without fare integration, all YRT buses dropped off passengers outside the station. I think they still do this today even with the fare integrated.
The same was true of Islington for MiWay. But Islington had room even though they still drop off passengers outside the terminal.

Yeah there are stops at the intersection

They certainly do at Don Mills. And I assume everywhere. Though the drop-off point is right next to a subway door, so quicker than going into the underground platforms.

The Islington drop-off point was also right next to doors - and a much shorter walk than to the end of the bus bays where they pick-up from.

From their point of view, little has changed with fare integration, as they need to properly track ridership to get their revenue from the province.

I feel like expanding Kipling would have been a better move than the 10 min walk to the miway terminal
