What if the western extension goes south towards the highway RoW?
I am not sure what you mean? Which highway? The 401?

Do you mean turn south right after Yonge? My understanding is there is already a tunnel that extents all the way here (see emergency exit: https://maps.app.goo.gl/MkTdwFpyAD4wYRvt9) which is straight west from Yonge along Sheppard and not close to the 401.

Or do you mean south after Sheppard West?

Can you maybe draw on a map what you mean please?

Not sure what you mean by this.

I would like to see the western extension go to Rivalda Rd., where it could connect with the proposed Bolton GO line.

Somehow connect up with the hypothetical transit tunnel under the 401.
what do you mean connect up? like intersect a hypothetical transit tunnel under the 401 to allow for an interchange with the subway? or for the subway to run inside of or parallel to the tunnel along the 401?

Not a fan of the idea of diverting it off of Sheppard anywhere (to Finch West, YYZ, or interlining with TYSSE), except towards STC if the intent is to terminate it there.

I would prefer both extensions are done simultaneously (or the construction of one starts while the other is still be worked on) since we have seen in this city that differing parts of a project to "future phases" has had mixed results.
I agree, and there should be clauses in place if it is a the same contract that says if one extension is ready before the other, it can open. If for some reason the western extension completes earlier than the eastern, it shouldn't need to wait for the eastern to be completed to open both at once.

Has there ever been a project in this city where a lack of such a clause has actually materially affected an outcome?

I expect line 3 vs. YNSE to be one (I'll eat my hat if YNSE is ready 1st regardless of whether line 3 is deemed a prerequisite; has YNSE even got shovels in the ground yet?).

With respect.......3 of the above projects broke ground under Doug Ford Finch (2020), the Scaborough Subway Extension (2021) and the Hurontario LRT (2020). Ford came to power in 2018.

The Crosstown did indeed break ground under the Liberals, though 1/2 of its construction life has been under Doug Ford.

As for cleaning up Metrolinx. Doug Ford kept Phil Verster, the chief mess maker in charge, and gave him a raise throughout this time period.

The number two mess maker is Michael Lindsay of Infrastructure Ontario......who kept his job until Ford sent him to replace Verster at Mx!

You really ought not to make excuses for your politician of choice.
Read carefully, I said "some" of these projects. Not making excuses at all, stating facts. Show me a premier who has been more committed to transit and infratructure.

Im curious as to what impresses you. If there wasnt a premier like Ford do you think there wouldnt be other premiers commitd to transit and infrastructure. Do you not think that a city's natural progression and state building does not have infrastructure demanded for it.

Reading what youre implying makes it seem like Doug Ford and his team magically came up with the idea of infrastructure
