Don't get me wrong , technically, any police agency within Ontario can pull over anyone regardless of city/town,region that there in based on the HTA. So a TPS officer can pull over someone in the city of Mississauga and apply the same HTA infraction if need be. It could be an unwritten rule amougest police where they stick to their respective jurisdiction. But legally , under HTA, all police have the same oversight.

Still, I wonder if it's official that the Gardiner is now officially uploaded after what I saw today.

Tbf during 2020 I saw some OPP cars there as well
 
They patrol the 400 series highways, one of which is directly connected to the Gardiner just a km or two away, so even if they didn't generally patrol the Gardiner, I don't think it would be surprising for them to be there.

Has the province hinted at what they will do after upload? Redesignate it as the QEW? The parts that were under the province before are up to 400 series standards, but the part that was always the city and the DVP don't quite meet the design standards
 
I recall Doug admitting there isn't much they can do in terms of expanding or modifying the expressways.

I do hope they keep the name Gardiner and DVP.

I wonder if this is the end to those Spring/Fall weekend closures.

I still believe Doug can modify the eastern end of the Gardiner, unless a contract is already written down by the city. I forgot what his position was when he was in City council. Was it to maintain the Gardiner has is, or did he vote in favor of the hybrid option?

Back in 2011 the City of Toronto approved various modifications to the western end of the Gardiner, including adding a lane between the Lakeshore Exit and the Collector/Express system:


It's not clear if the City / now Province still intends to proceed with these or not.

The City also had plans for more ramp reconfigurations within the downtown pre-upload, it is also not clear what will happen to those.

Post-upload I could see MTO addressing substandard interchange designs (especially on the DVP), but over a span of many decades. The real answer is that we simply do not know.

I also imagine that maintenance will shift to be closer to how MTO manages other highways - that is, without entire weekend closures.

I know this is unpopular, but I hope they redo the York off ramp. The merge onto York is ridiculous.

And with the upload , hopefully faster process to repair both expressways.

One could see the Simcoe off ramp was a disaster when it was being built for York St that it should had allow traffic to gain access to York other than doing a round the block loop or using the QQW to get to York. It's a pain dealing with York when I rarely drive in Toronto with all the line cutting and blockage caused by the Simcoe ramp. Not a well thought out plan for that ramp. The Gardiner should have been remove starting at Spadina in the first place.

All I can say, don't drive into Toronto or even use a car in Toronto as it is only going to get worse by 2030-40 with another million or so cars on the road. One reason I gave up the car as the stress was too great dealing with clueless and impatient drivers, let along the dangerous ones.

I'll definitely take your advice when driving into Toronto.
