Surprised this will go ahead of the main 2027 rehabilitation. Didn't even know the design was complete for the structures to be rehabbed.

The city and MX should temporarily expand Mimico GO's parking while all this construction is going on with the Gardiner.

Vandyk properties went bankrupt. All that land beside Mimico will sit empty for the foreseeable future.
yes - so much vacant land - let us park or something

At the rate they're going with the 24/7 work, I'm not sure that it will.

I'm predicting the Dufferin-Strachan stretch will be all done by next fall. The middle section of the Gardiner completed the demolition part as of last week, which is less than 6 weeks from when they started. For context, it took them nearly 3 months to complete the demolition portion of the southern section, and that was a mix of regular hours with 24/7 work kicking in part way through. It should also be noted that even with 24/7 work, they aren't allowed to do demolition (or other really noisy work) overnight.

You got a contractor that willing to go the extra mile to get things done faster than plan for. I have seen it first hand, but not on this project.

Girder installation has begun for the middle section. If the work speed on the first two lanes is any indication, work on the middle two lanes will be done in just under 4 months.

Anyone know where are the girders being lifted from for the middle section, and are they going over the active Gardiner lanes while being put in place?

So they are coming up at an angle to clear the bents?
Have to come up on an angel to get one end above the pier/beam and once the other end is slightly above the pier level, walk the beam onto the pier while lower the other end

At that pace they would have 6 lanes open again by mid-summer, no? That's way, way, way faster than schedule, which isn't supposed to see this completed for another 16 months.

If they want to abandon the project 2/3rds to completion yes. Look again and you’ll see the westbound section has not been touched yet.

I loe when snooty redditors will say whY Don't You TAKE THe Go when I'll see at least a dozen cars with parking tickets because the lots are full!

Is there a plan to rebuild the section between Strachan and Lower Jarvis on the east side? (Not sure if this question was asked previously on this thread)
