"Casa Morales’s roots are in the hallowed halls of Kensington Market’s Latin American food court, a launchpad for some of Toronto’s most beloved eateries. It was at 214 Augusta—once home to the Chilean hot dog spot Completo and the pupuseria Casiamento, both of which later became stand-alone restaurants—that cousins and co-owners Augustine Skrzypek Morales and Carlos Emilio Morales opened Gus Tacos back in 2019. The Canadian cousin of their original taco stand in León, Mexico, soon met with much fanfare and now has seven locations across the city."

Damn we are starting to see the gentification of Kensington Market where mexican food is going premium @AlbertC @Northern Light @GenerationLee
I find it very hard to find affordable decent Mexican food in Toronto.

If you don't mind eating late at night, there is a brand new Mexican (driven) restaurant @ Bloor and Brunswick Dalton. They have $3 Tacos after 10 PM. (regular price is 3 for $17)
For $3, some are great, some are just okay. It's a hit and miss. but for only $3 each, I'm not complaining. (I'm just taking note and learning which ones NOT to order next time, lol)

It's a chain from Calgary.

It's a chain from Calgary.

& Franworks group of Calgary is also under the care of Recipe unlimited. (aka Cara foods) so yeah, for those avoiding chains, Blanco is not the place to go.

I like King's Tacos at Dufferin & St Clair, but they're not that cheap anymore. Have also heard good things about Tenoch a bit east of Oakwood and takeout joint Itacate, although haven't personally tried them.

There's some Mexican places at Dufferin & Eg, and Keele & Eg too. I've been to El Sazon de la Tia Flor, who have $1 tacos on Tuesday and Wednesday. Granted you'll probably order 8 to 10 of them in total, but I found them pretty solid for what you're paying

I agree with @AlbertC, I like King Taco and man they got that hot spicy salsa verde and tomatillo sauce!

Doesn't necessarily substantiate to the downtown location specifically yet per se, but there's reports that Hooters may be preparing for a bankruptcy in the coming months

@AlbertC they end of the era....eating at hooters! They have to say they have good wing specials, cheap beers and a good place to watch sports games in Downtown Toronto.

I guess they have toned down the "revealing factors" in recent years...

I wonder how Hooters do well in the suburban markets?

This is on Ossington Strip fyi new restaurant

This is located at the former Venezia Bakery !!! One of the best Portugal egg tart.

They also run those "Landing" pubs, which are absolutely terrible, so I will probably be giving Blanco a miss.
