RAND, which is basically the official outward think-tank for the US military industrial complex, is asking for a backing-down of American tension against China, which is a major reversal in previous policy.

Essentially, they recommend that the US recognizes not only the rise of China as a power equivalent to the US, but to also recognize the legitimacy of the CCP as its government. This includes recommendations for the US not only accepting China's vision of unification with Taiwan but encouraging the latter not to antagonize. RAND goes so far as to suggest, for the first time, that China is not one to seek world-domination but simply control over its sphere.

Except that China's "sphere" is whatever it decides it is; including Africa, the Caribbean and the Arctic.

^I think we need to worry more about the "sphere" down south of us than that of one across the west pond, IMO...

Only one country has military bases on every continent.
To be clear though, I do not want to undermine the concern for China here. But I do see them as the dragon over there as opposed to the one currently breathing down our neck...

...but I will add, China is likely positioning itself on the global stage strategically due in part because of the shenanigans of Trump and his administration. Something we have to watch out for.

Another Hatch Act violation and very partisan government website blaming Democrats for 40 million losing SNAP benefits, which the Trump adminstration decided quite cruelly, to do for first time ever in a shutdown......

Also, looks like they want that tourism/immigration number to be zero....

We take pics too. And our passports have pics. I have been on flights where you are verified by a photo as you head towards the plane.

Just edgelords edgelording.
I know that; but it's banality-of-evil opportunity to reflect upon the utter post-literate, post-taste, post-cultural bankruptcy of that terminally-online crowd.

Or in a case like this, it's like architectural gooning.
