If this was a relocation from their White Ave spot. I say go for it and demolish the White Ave location and build more mixed use.
I’d be sad to see the Whyte Ave dealership gone. It’s kind of charming as a small-scale car dealership that directly fronts the street and it has some iconic neon signage.

I don't really care about losing the dealership BUT would love to save the building (and the Don Wheaton Ltd neon sign!). The site has great potential for a group with vision:
  • Showroom is perfect for 1-2 large tenants or could be demised into smaller spaces
  • The roof area on the eastern portion of the building has been used for additional vehicle parking, so it must have some substantial load bearing capabilities, so roof top amenities opportunities are endless
  • Rear surface parking lots are perfect for mid rises
Come on Wheaton Properties, this is the perfect spot for a true legacy project, let it be known as the Wheaton Block.

Bought our '01 Malibu there using "GM points" from their now defunct Visa

Tough stretch of road there. The old Knox site still sitting in a state of partial excavation(yet another building gone replaced by a crater), the old restaurant, which at least half is now a medical Center. Dry cleaners not really adding much. There’s some good along there too but feels like there’s lots of opportunity.

The dry cleaners is actually regularly used by many and has been around for decades. There aren't many of them around any more, unlike the KFC or whatever the heck it was after that which added little to the neighbourhood.
