These are impressive. Just needs someone to look at them, give it some thought and implement...
I'd agree but the problem is; Metrolinx likes to ensure their consultants are paid millions to come up with nonsensical stupid concepts, while the TTC is too busy being Grade 5 with some of their wayfinding implementation and next vehicle displays.

I'll give Metrolinx credit as they have drastically improved bus and train display info, while the TTC has recently just concluded a wayfinding study so let's see what those efforts yield us..

IF we've learned anything from the Crosstown fiasco.....its surely that Metrolinx takes deadlines seriously..... ...

Which is why there is no surprises that the quarterly update to the Capital Project Commercial Pipeline was just published in March....... the last one having been July '24. LOL

Still.... let's see what UT's railroad experts make of it..... @crs1026 @smallspy and @reaperexpress

*sigh* If @smallspy and I ran this railroad.......

The listing makes sense once you realise that "TBD" probably stands for "Too Bloody Difficult". It's hard to fathom how RFP's that were closed a year ago still haven't been awarded. And the number that are marked as "upcoming" often speaks to nothing having happened since prequalification.

A good example is how the listing of work on Kitchener GO line implies slow progress and few shovels in the ground this year
- Heritage Road layover RFP closed last October, not yet awarded
- Guelph Package 2A - Acton passing track - a key prerequisite to counter flow peak service on the GO Kitchener route - RFP not until Q2 this year
- Mount Pleasant GO - preparatory work only towards adding track and the flyover - RFP only projected for Q2 this year
- Guelph Package 3 (ie Mossborough-Hanlon extension of the Breslau passing track) - Prequal date TBD
- Guelph package 4 (likely downtown Kitchener) - RFP not until Q4 2025
- The status of work managed by CN is, of course, not documented

Even simpler packages such as the signalling and layover track at Niagara Falls - Prequal Q2 2025, RFP Q3 2025 - meaning no shovels in the ground this year

Plenty of station renovations (necessary, but not contributing to expansion).

West Toronto Railpath Exension? TBD. Davenport Public Works? TBD

On the plus side, Caledonia station should be mobilising fairly soon. Milton GO 2WAD at least shows some intitial TPAP preparation activity.

In summary, lots of piecemeal bits but little room for confidence that ML is driving to complete anything over this summer's construction season.

I've noticed that BRT projects don't show up on these lists (I noted similar in the July update)... are they not considered capital projects?

Tldr for us Plebs who can afford subscriptions? This is a massive fail on metrolinx.... either DB saw the writing on the wall or ML Is penny pinching on their proposed plans. Whos going to take their place now? Some nobody north American company who has zero experience outside the realm of Canada? I'll bet they'll be so green they'll botch it up like presto card....:mad::mad::mad:
It'll definitely be some stupid s**ta*s North American company. Probably from Florida or one of the other garbage states. GO is done.

Well there goes any hope of a modern GO "RER" style system, this is the official death knell we should've known better. When it comes to transit planning and implementation, Metrolinx is truly a world class laughing stock of an organization.

With the way things are going, we're not going to see any sort electrification happen anytime soon. I fully expect GO Trains to be running on diesel for the next 25 years at a minimum.
