They are about to pour the new base layer of concrete for tracks on King west of Church and the special trackwork is all sitting around waiting. There are (were?) also tangent rails sitting at King & Parliament, I assume for the straight parts of the King/Church project.

Today's official update:

Work is progressing well at the King Street and Church Street intersection.

Work completed this week:
•  Continuing to test watermain on north side and southeast leg of intersection.

•  Water service connections complete on the new relined watermain.

•  Continue with formwork for the TTC streetcar base.

•  Commence pouring concrete for TTC streetcar base.

Over the weekend:
•   General site clean-up and light site maintenance.

•  Limited visible activity, as crews complete watermain testing.

Looking ahead to next week:
•  Complete permanent water service connections to properties.

•  Complete pouring concrete base for TTC Streetcar
•  TTC to commence setting streetcar rails

Thank you for your patience as we continue this important infrastructure upgrade.

As they promised, the TTC have been adjusting the overhead while most of King has no streetcars. Not sure how much has been done but they are working just east of Sherbourne today. They are 'staggering' the hangers so that the pantos get worn more evenly and maybe doing other things like pole replacements - one @ the King Eddie is clearly old and seems to have been marked for replacement.

I have not passed through King/Church for two weeks.
Based on the above update it looks like they should be setting down the rails by now. Are they still on track to meet the project timeline?

Yesterday they were making final preparations to pour the last of the bottom layer of concrete on all four 'wings' and the centre of the intersection. I assume they poured last night or are doing so today and when it is in place they should be all set to start rail laying.

Here is today's public announcement:

Work completed this week:
  • Final watermain testing completed, allowing the final section of the watermain to be placed into service and enabling individual service connections to begin
  • Formwork and concrete placement completed for the TTC streetcar base
  • Track drain installation completed
  • TTC began setting streetcar rails
Over the weekend:

  • TTC will continue setting streetcar rails
Looking ahead to next week:
  • Complete permanent water service connections to properties
  • TTC will continue setting streetcar rails

They are making really great progress. Today...

Further along King East you can see that they already completed the edges along some sections and Sackville to Sumach (and up to River I guess but the work stops at Sumach right now) is getting new tracks entirely and they are almost done as well...

King and Sumach to King and Trinity Street are done. THAT was fast. I think that took like 2 weeks?

They are clearly not done yet as all their cones and such were neatly stacked off the side of the road near Trinity Street.

Then there is King and Church. They are working all weekend. Welding tracks together and it looks like they are nearly done.
