I definitely appreciate the work going on. Pics, however, reminds me what a mish-mash of buildings along this section of Jasper Ave - from 114-116st. I'm not saying buildings need to all look the same but what has been built over different periods of time kind looks like a dog's breakfast on the north side and not what belongs on a mainstreet - and that's the better side right now.
Agreed. I’m always shocked how much worse jasper is vs whyte in terms of architecture and facades. Really sucks.

Jasper Avenue west of 109th street was never a true urban street. There had always been a lack of street fronting buildings along it. Car dealerships were one of the first businesses along that street I believe. Correct me if I am wrong.

There was the old rail line and rail yards too, so west of 109 street it wasn't really a retail area historically at all unlike Whyte Ave. However, with all the residential nearby there is potential for it to become a more urban street.

One of the impediments to Jasper Avenue's continuity as a street was - and remains - the stinginess of the City in refusing to bring the street up to grade when the rail overpass was removed.

Based on some comments, it seems like the two biggest things holding Edmonton back from true greatness are the dip in Jasper and the hairpin turn on Gateway.

Who knew 😵‍💫

Something's going on close to Jasper / 124.
