Money is being spent on the sixth biggest city. The LRT is being funded by the province and feds. Heck KW paid for 30% of their's so how about Mississauga ponies up the money for 30% of Hurontario? The mayor's asking for funding for operations, should KW do the same? You don't see KW complaining about it, let them have just a tiny bit of money spent on them for once.
I’m happy to pay. I’m sorry I don’t speak for all mississaugans or the mayor. But there’s plenty of projects that are paid for by others.

For reference, the province first promised all day 2 way service to Georgetown in 2009. That’s when the EA was published. It’ll likely take another 4 years (just my guess) before that’s delivered.

Milton will, eventually, get AD2W service and probably in less than 20 years from 1st commitment.

To make your numbers work you have to highly lean on Kitchener Waterloo which up until recently was a VIA destination.

Milton is 55 kms away while kitchener is 110. Guelph is 100 while acton is 75.

If we take from Georgetown to Toronto on the Kitchener line vs the Milton line we have basically identical numbers.
There is also the issue that KW and Guelph have large universities, with increasing proportions of students commuting from the western suburbs in addition to the Guelph (and KW?) residents who commute into Toronto and back. The GO bus service is struggling to serve the Milton, Brampton and Mississauga students who currently commute daily to UofG now.

Does the Milton line have an equivalent commuter user base both directions all day?

Well, I can tell you that when the semester first started the MCIs were routinely leaving 20-30 people behind at the stops in Mississauga when bound for Toronto. No idea about the counter direction, I was fortunate enough to have all my classes let out during train running time.

It's stabilized a bit now as people start to find reasons to stay on campus late or get there earlier, and we seem to get some more DDs than we did before, but it was really, really bad for the first few weeks, and if nothing changes I expect a repeat come next September (or maybe even next semester, depends how the social situation on campus shakes out). It never fails to amaze me how the off-peak answer to a 12 car train that runs on 15-30 minute headways is one measly bus an hour. The 22 -> LW connection isn't really an option, either, since the inmates are running the asylum and think 2 hour frequencies are usable transit. And then people act shocked - shocked ! - that many say "fuck it" and do the common sense thing and drive. I would, too, if we weren't a one car family.

Kitchener is over 300k based on the latest StatCan data, Waterloo is 144k, Guelph is 160k, Brampton is 800k.

That alone is 1.4 million.

Milton and Mississauga combine for 950k by comparison with the lastest StatCan data.

Frankly investing in the line with an extra 500k makes more sense.
You need to add Halton/Oakville to the total numbers as there are stations that will be added between Lisgar and Milton stations.
