With respect to the Danforth…do any of the Metrolinx planners actually use or at least simulate use of any of these entrances and exits to their stations?

Don't know.

I'll admit to my instinct being that they do not. I encounter so many project managers in government that don't ground truth a thing.
 
Nice that the government can spend money to expand Kitchener line service again & again, yet can't drop a dime for limited weekend Milton service!
That's a CP mainline. So CP calls the shots.

The agreement to buy 21 km of ROW from CN will free up the Kitchener line from freight control to enable service upgrades. Something similar for Milton would be many times bigger and more complex.

The Kitchener line has far more all-day two-way ridership potential than Milton (and it already has more ridership today) because it connects the centres of several major cities, not just dispersed suburbs in Mississauga and Milton.

But in any case, this news should actually be good news for Milton, since sets a precedent for Metrolinx attempting similar negotiations with CPKC to create a dedicated corridor there as well.

You can add up the populations of all the cities on that route and compare it to the Milton lines populations and you will figure out that is not as lopsided as it sounds.

PS - 20.9 km length x 20 m wide ROW = 418,000 m2 = 41.8 hectares = 103.3 acres
Compare that to the land required to build a 4-lane expressway

On the socials, Metrolinx is putting out a video and there is a map visualization. Wish the news release material had this.

From the discussions at the open house (discussed above), they are considering Dawes. And I'd think that Stephenson would be mostly up to the city, whether to reopen or not.

Kitchener is over 300k based on the latest StatCan data, Waterloo is 144k, Guelph is 160k, Brampton is 800k.

That alone is 1.4 million.

Milton and Mississauga combine for 950k by comparison with the lastest StatCan data.

Frankly investing in the line with an extra 500k makes more sense.

To make your numbers work you have to highly lean on Kitchener Waterloo which up until recently was a VIA destination.

Milton is 55 kms away while kitchener is 110. Guelph is 100 while acton is 75.

If we take from Georgetown to Toronto on the Kitchener line vs the Milton line we have basically identical numbers.
 
Investment on the Kitchener line right now is going to serve more people per dollar spent given the amount of work needed for 2 way all day service on the Milton line. Comparing the entire population of Mississauga also doesnt make much sense given many residents are closer to the Kitchener or Lakeshore lines anyway

It’s always a cost thing when it comes to Mississauga. We can bury eglinton LRT. We can build underground the Vaughan extension instead of above. We can build the danforth extension as a subway vs a rt conversion. We can bury downtown Brampton lrt. BUT God forbid we spend actual money serving the sixth biggest city in Canada.

Money is being spent on the sixth biggest city. The LRT is being funded by the province and feds. Heck KW paid for 30% of their's so how about Mississauga ponies up the money for 30% of Hurontario? The mayor's asking for funding for operations, should KW do the same? You don't see KW complaining about it, let them have just a tiny bit of money spent on them for once.
