Conservatives still frontrunners but ‘hemorrhaging’ support to Liberals: Nanos survey

The federal Liberals are making significant traction at the expense of Pierre Poilievre’s Conservatives following Justin Trudeau’s resignation, according to the latest Nanos Research ballot tracking released Tuesday.

“We do this every week, (and) what’s clear is that Conservative support is now hemorrhaging to the Liberals,” said Nik Nanos, chief data scientist for Nanos Research, on the latest episode of CTV News Trend Line.

“If you remember back just before Justin Trudeau stepped down, the Conservatives had a whopping 27-point advantage,” he said. “(It) was like 47-20 for the federal Conservatives.”

No offense intended to California in particular, but you know when certain US leaders recently said they don't need anything from us.

Apparently, we can surprisingly get by without things from them too.

This article makes a very good point, I have been thinking about for a while. Canada exports more goods to the US than it buys, but where the US is much more vulnerable is in services.

Their huge monopolistic social media companies like X would really not like like have punitive retaliatory taxes and who better to tax than the great Elon.

If USA wants to change place names, then fine, but keep their garbage off the rest of the world's maps.
Google Maps already displays the borders and "titles" of regions differently based on where the user is searching from. I have heard about the differences in how Hong Kong (I think) and Ukraine are listed between the West and the politically contentious neighbours of the respective regions.

Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh are also shown as being in India/Pakistan/ China depending on which country you're in.

I agree with @trevorhayden, why do we have to have to see "Gulf of America", change it to whatever Carrot Man wants in the US and leave it Gulf of Mexico everywhere else.

While Canadian hockey fans boo USA national anthem and Trump is enemy #1 - still crickets on who the 11 MPs are who helped the CCP from China interfere in Canadian elections, intimidate Chinese Canadians etc etc. I just watched the excellent PBS Frontline documentary on the rise of Xi Jinping. Frontline website has some excellent documentaries that are free to watch. Compare Justin Trudeau's upbringing with Xi's - Xi must think Trudeau is a halfwit pushover - and he treats the Liberals and Canada with zero respect. Interesting when Xi first came into power in 2012 he issued "Document #9" to the CCP to root out subversive western NGO's and western civil society organizations that Xi believed were poisoning Chinese society with "western values". Its interesting how the CCP is now using NGOs and civil societies against the USA, Canada and other western democracies to de-stabilize our societies - poison our streets with toxic hard drugs, use supposedly environmental civil societies like Greenpeace and Tides to jam up our regulatory system to prevent energy development and increased GDP growth, and interfere in our elections to get idiot anti-fossil fuel politicians like Geaubeult and Carney elected. Interesting how Xi started the "Belt and Road Plan" to increase China's global power and secure resources for its AI battle with the USA. I think many people on this forum should watch this documentary - and PBS is a left biased news org and even they can see what's happening. Time for Canadians to wake up.

The good news now is the Chinese really don't have to interfere in anything any more, just let the US destroy its relationships with and alienate its neighbours and allies.

IMO, more harm being done by the Orange menace than any MP's here, who btw were recently cleared of allegations of treason.

Here are some stats on how Canada fares within the G7 on some life/health/social metrics.

Trudeau selects consortium to co-develop high-speed-rail line between Quebec City and Toronto

The federal government has selected a group called Cadence to move ahead on the design phase for a high-speed-rail line covering roughly 1,000 kilometres between Quebec City and Toronto. This initial phase will receive federal funding of $3.9 billion.

Paywalled article, but here is the free CTV one.

Canadian Tax Holiday Hiding Inflation Surge, BoC Should Pause Cuts: BMO

Canada’s tax holiday ran for two months but it probably felt much shorter, and with good reason. Statistics Canada (Stat Can) data shows the Consumer Price Index (CPI) accelerated in January. The central bank’s preferred inflation measures are now approaching the upper bound, and will bust through it like the Kool-Aid Man once the temporary suppression from the GST/HST Holiday fades
