I’m curious about what this place will be like a few seasons after it’s opened, the downtown ball park has had a revolving door of teams throughout my life and it’s going to be tough for a second amateur/semipro baseball team to carve its place in the YEG sports scene

Didn’t know they were timber roofing it….gonna look good!

^ Has Western Archrib got into the CLT business! I tried several years ago to coax them in that direction -- if it is a fact then we may see (as @erudyk_29 was hoping for some time back) a new era for mass timber structures in Edmonton (a place that should feel right at home with this architectural meme). Some of the most appealing designs are coming from mass timber constructs and places like Sweden are allowing mid-to-high rise structures. If these start hitting the streets in Edmonton, then all of the 4-to-6 storey stick-framed structures are going to immediately look-out-of-date... passé! We need to see these aligned with modern glass units that are triple-paned low-e glass with electronic black-out capabilities. I am tempted to try this myself as an Edmonton experiment. This project is now one to pay real attention to.

Has Energy City ever been used as a moniker for anywhere in the region? I've seen lots of comments saying it's a nickname for Calgary, but it seems like an oddly made up choice for this team.

This city boy has learned something new. Hopefully I am the only one who doesn't know what a "cactus rat" is.
to be fair it seems like a made up term, almost as made up as calling Spruce Grove "Energy City".
