About 37 years and counting since a new hospital was built in Edmonton which has grown a lot since then and we are still waiting. It will probably be at least 45 years or more before anything happens.
Metro Edmonton was around 800k people 37 years ago. More than doubled in size with no new hospitals.

I hope this becomes a big issue in the next provincial election.
I would hope so too, but Edmonton has been more or less ignored by provincial governments for 40 odd years.

Oh? I thought the UCP hated all things Health care….are you suggesting they are in favour of Covenant Health?

They tend to speak very highly of Covenant Health, which is a Catholic healthcare provider.

They of course have severely criticized and subsequently dismantled AHS.

And now they are looking to expand the two Covenant Health hospitals in Edmonton which will not provide medical care that does not align with Catholic values (abortion, MAID, etc).

They also called Convenant a "competitor" to AHS as if it's a private market.

Sad to see that Edmonton, a city that has probably grown the equivalent of two cities the size of Airdrie, is not getting a hospital, and Airdrie is getting a community health centre.
