Stop farting around with Pronouns Madame Premier B!tch face! Wake up and smell reality! Even 80,000 person shit hole Prince George is getting a new hospital, this along with even a bigger shit hole of Ft.St John as well…..
BC Had 22 new and renovated hospitals on the go. St Pauls in Van is $2B, Almost every major centre is getting a new one. As for ours. Newest for us will be Beaver lodge, Which is 30 years late. La Crete will be an addition to double its size. Red Deer Expansion finally going, but again almost 30 years behind the first.
discussions. Stollery has been started and stopped 4 times at least and the design costs are probably over $20 mil. As for the South West Hospital that is another that has had start and stops. again probably between 10-30 mil spent. And currently a cleared but not serviced site. All the civil work was stopped and the pipes have been sitting for 3 years now. If and when Stollery moves to the new site next door the U of A will be able to properly renovate and double current capacity. Once Grey Nuns outpatient moves to the new Covenant Health Wellness centre, GN can gut the space and triple the size of the ER. But I have not heard of any money for that.

My SO was in Neuro at the U of A for 6 weeks recently. The Neuro surgery recovery has still not started. the Neuro surgery ward was packed and very outdated. Hell I saw stuff from when I was on the original build. She spent a couple of days in ICU because there were no beds available. Neuro was getting a new Physio dept though. Should be open soon. Thankfully she is at Glenrose now for a very short time and I have to say they could use a major renovation and expansion. The physio and OT dept are out of date and small. And I know they are trying to raise money for a new pool facility. (perfect for aquacise).

A speedy recovery to your SO. You're right. Our hospitals need love (cash) and this south Edmonton hospital is so long overdue. Health care and education you can't skimp out on the way we have for such a wealthy province.

I sincerely hope you don't have to add the Alex ER to your tour. They literally have their beds and equipment tied together with bandages...

Last summer I had an uncle staying in a general med-surg unit at the U of A for a few weeks. I was blown away by how shabby and rundown his room was. WAY worse than any of the rooms I've been in at the RAH, Mis, Cross, or General. I'm used to unit rooms being outdated and in need of maintenance, but this was way worse.

There was some window paint art on the inside of his exterior window. Looked nice until I saw it was dated 2014 and that meant the interior side of the window hadn't been cleaned in a decade.

About 37 years and counting since a new hospital was built in Edmonton which has grown a lot since then and we are still waiting. It will probably be at least 45 years or more before anything happens.
I hope this becomes a big issue in the next provincial election.
