No disrespect, but the Oilers have the oldest team in the NHL. It’s great to have the vets, but there’s a risk that they drop off quickly.

1-8-2 this year against teams in top 2 in their respective divisions.

I may have read the 2nd part wrong but the record was 1-8-2 for sure.

That's not a Stanley Cup contender anyway you cut it.

As a smarter fan recently told me, 'bad stretches happen to good teams', and that's very true; better now than April, but holy moly we look disjointed again, back to Oct habits and very little overall care and attention..

If the boys cannot get up for tonight's game, I really wonder what their true state is over there.

We shall see.

The Oil know that this league is too easy and were getting too far ahead... simply want to make it exciting, that's all.

Haha exactly. Coach called out our 3rd line last night... -3 and absolutely brutal... and spoke about Bouchard.

'Too many passengers'

Why are the local media so keen on running Bouchard out of town? Anyone remember the same story happening with the likes of Justin Schultz and Jeff Petry? Besides, Ekholm apparently had a poor game last night, and Nurse was out with an injury.

My thoughts on last nights game:

Team was actually playing fine... until about 10 minutes left in the 3rd, when everyone decided to have a collective brain fart. First, Klingberg / Bouchard misplay it at the blue line, allowing a 3 on 2 down low. The forwards are changing, so Brown is late picking up the trailer, allowing Schmidt to walk in and score. Then, Ekholm blocks a shot, Stu somehow completely loses track of the puck and is so far out of position he has to try to launch himself across the entire net to make a save, isn't able to get across in time.

The positives:

- Connor looked like himself again
- Leon continued his dominance
- Stu was good for about 95% of the game (and then the 4th goal happened)

The negatives:
- Klingberg experiment looking worse and worse every game
- Ekholm had an uncharacteristically bad game, took a couple unnecessary penalties and overall didn't look like himself
- Skinners numbers against top teams are... concerning to say the least
- Knoblauch is right about the 3rd line, Janmark / Henrique / Brown have done next to nothing in the last several months. Need more from them.

Even though they lost, I still think they're looking better, they just have to find a way to finish out games. This was a tough roadtrip Tampa, Washington, Florida, all very good teams and coming out of a long break on the road. They will right the ship eventually, they're too good of a team not to, just need to clean up some details.
