What a disgrace of a "Team Tampa Bay" that Cooper et all have put together!!! Hyman's 70 goals last year? Nope! Bouche's Bombs from the blue line? Nope! I hope we lose to Yanks on Thursday.

Team Canada wins a close one against Finland, will meet the US in the final on Thursday!

Wow, what a terrible game, from bottom to top.

Savoie was unironically the Oilers best player, by far. He looked really good, got his first point. He's fast, skilled and looks to be more physically solid and a better forechecker than I had thought.

This may or may not be provable -- but whenever there is a player shift (e.g. when John Klingberg and Matt Savoie were added to the roster) the following two or three games are losses. The team is supposed to be manned with adult professional athletes who are extremely well paid and are supposed to be above petty jealousies and "change" mood swings, but they are also human beings with emotions. I haven't done it but I bet if someone were to do a study with the Oilers and monitor the "team change" factor I bet the outcome would be provable from a statistics standpoint.

Again, 'it ain't a goalie issue Edmonton'...

Our D zone play is horrendous, we cannot seem to score or make plays... let alone have a proper breakout.

The past two games really highlight our lack of team play and 'good not great' mentality.

Goalies truly come to die here, but we rinse and repeat and rarely change for the better.

Pickard was horrendous today. Skinner was horrendous last game. The defense has not been great the last couple games, but you so quickly absolve the goalies of any fault. Both goalies are near the bottom of the league in GSAx. Skinner's numbers are atrocious against playoff teams. Every now and then Skinner or Pickard will have a game they don't give up a bad goal, but neither of them is ever capable of making any remotely difficult save.

Just today, Pickard let in:

- A muffin from the blue line (Chychrun Goal)
- An unscreened wrist shot from well beyond the circle (first Ovechkin Goal)
- Gave up a horrible rebound on the Strome goal

The Oilers, are statistically one of the best defense teams in the league, and have been for years. They are top 5 in preventing high danger chances, this is a fact.

The last two games are most likely an example of the team struggling to get up to speed after a lengthy break, and thus can reasonably be considered outliers. The goaltending has consistently been an issue.

Colorado went to get their starter (Blackwood) and he has been tremendous since the trade. It's time for the Oilers to go get a genuine starter who can consistently make the easy saves, and every now and then, make a tough save.

The it's never the goalie's fault mentality is fine to have in the locker room, but as fans we can point out when it's bad.

I admit, the defense has been bad the last couple games, but over the course of the whole season, Pickard and Skinner have actively cost the Oilers wins, while the defense in general has been a positive driver.

And I don't disagree that to get further we need an indisputable #1, but our D zone is B R U T A L.... so fix that first.
