If this goes ahead the way it is that entire section of downtown will be a black hole for street presence. There's no interaction at all with the street, there's no mixed use elements NOT ONE...and they went with punched windows and metal paneling as some edgy design choice to contrast against the historical brick rather than work with it.

I hope this gets rejected and the lots get saved for a more serious developer. It's better waiting as is for that time considering it's proximity to a university and Ice District. I know we are trying to fill vacant lots, but it shouldn't be by any means necessary.

There comes a point where we have to just say no to crap. It should be made easier in this particular case because the poor quality is so obvious.
 
Does anyone know if MacEwan is tied in to this directly? The developers stuff in BC seems to be mostly for institutions.
 
ooooooh boy Edmonton 😅 I've said this before a few years back in another thread and seems like is becoming an actual thing! Rig-Pigian architecture.

That term is perfect for what we see around Edmonton. Therefore I am stealing the term.
