On route 747 from YEG this afternoon:

Departed the terminal at 1606
- every seat is full; nine people are standing

Arrived at the mall at 1611.
- four people disembarked

Departed the mall at 1616 After making two stops
- every seat is full; 23 people are standing
I have not seen that level of congestion since the schedule change. It could have a result of the congestion at the Black Mud creek construction on the highway. I know the bus I was on the other day got caught up in it because he wasn’t being assertive enough. The following bus took a diversion and actually got ahead of us on the highway so there would have been a significant delay in service at the airport.

Thanks for sharing and documenting.

That's an extra 10 minutes of bus stops and traffic lights before even making any progress to get going downtown after a flight. I've taken the 747 several times though - i just hate that detour.
So you would like to spend an extra half an hour waiting for a bus just so you don’t waste 10 minutes on the detour? Doesn’t make sense to me but whatever.

I don't like the 10min detour and I want service every 30min. That's right - I want it all (express service please).

July numbers out and growth looks fairly weak. International certainly hampered by the Condor loss.

/\ And the 12-month rolling average as of July is at 8.12M passengers. At the current pace (even considering the drop in transborder), 2025 will finally see the 2018 and 2014 records broken (8.2M).
And if tensions with the USA ease off (which is possible over the next few years) I could see YEG reaching 9M passengers within the next 2-3 years.

I highly doubt tensions will ease if the Americans continue to be ruled by that orange buffoon and his ilk.

I do think we can beat 8 million but I don’t think this year will be a record. I do also think people will start booking transborder travel again but it will be a slow climb back up rather than an immediate shift.

Even if people start booking transborder again, unfortunately I think it’ll be awhile until we get back the frequencies/routes back that were cut.

I think the carriers will be more cautious for now, and just funnel people through YYC for transborder. We have an unpredictable orange baffoon down south who might just wake up one morning and get annoyed with Canada again for whatever reason.
