I am not sure having a safe room will really make much difference, but the UCP does love the symbolic and it probably didn't cost too much so it probably meets their important criteria.

I don't get all of the concern over this; it's a new option and very considerate at that.

Worry more about better food options and more flight options folks.
Concern over what? Safe rooms or the argument that early flights are “ok?”

Porter has already turned off/disabled all refundable fares when booking for the near future. Don’t blame them though, they probably learned from last year when lots of people booked refundable fares during the (almost) pilots strike and they ended up flying half empty planes across the country when the strike didn’t happen and people requested refunds.

On route 747 from YEG this afternoon:

Departed the terminal at 1606
- every seat is full; nine people are standing

Arrived at the mall at 1611.
- four people disembarked

Departed the mall at 1616 After making two stops
- every seat is full; 23 people are standing

Thanks for sharing and documenting.

That's an extra 10 minutes of bus stops and traffic lights before even making any progress to get going downtown after a flight. I've taken the 747 several times though - i just hate that detour.
