They have very little aesthetic appeal as is but they could be repurposed. Emulating the aviation aesthetic would serve as a great remembrance of a major part of Edmonton's history

These ones don't really have anything any elements that can be burnt, and these would have to be really interesting fires to get the frame hot enough to weaken the steel. There were also a couple fires in them last year, sometime around when the other hangar burned down. I don’t think they will be saved.
Well aren't you the consummate wit!Tricky to basically build a mall…beside a bigger mall…
Could you read it this time? Or should I post it once more?
Last I heard, they were working with the city on a plan to use the funding they were given to repurpose that hanger to instead support a new project based on it. That was a while ago though, so I'm not sure if it's still in the works. Why isn't the US Air Force hanger being rebuilt? What is insurance even for?
Except these hangars are completely unalike Hangar 11 in their structure, and are just sheet metal over a frame on tarmac. What had originally been planned for Hangar 11 as a concept could be reformatted into a proposal for these twin Hangars (renderings Courtesy HSEA Architects, Inc.) -- just sayin'... a little imagination can be very transformative.
