They are far more than sheet metal over a frame. They are not Hanger 11, true, but they have the ability with a little imagination to become a functional reminder of the airport that used to be while serving more current needs. Something quite exciting could be built within the existing structures, between the existing structures and as "book-ends" to the existing structures. I remember the same kinds of comments being made about Hangar 11 at the time. Why is it that Edmontonians are happy to see every shred of Edmonton's past destroyed in favor of new bland architecture? We are going to lose the Coliseum building, these two hangars, and countless other buildings and yet when people actually see a built transition to something better they rave at how good it turned out -- the Strathcona Hotel is a good example of that. Part of it on social media is that people just love to bitch.
