I wonder if EDBA provides support and advice for dt businesses when setting up spaces like this or if the city has some standards?
I took my friend by this morning on our way to coffee and his response - "you're kidding"
Funny how that actually leaves more room for pedestrians than when the fence is uprightPerhaps divine intervention?
I was walking by tonight and captured this - the wind apparently blew it over.
I hope nobody was injured.

Why fight the uphill battle? Houses are inexpensive and growth outwards continues at a record pace. Let's make central neighbourhoods great for urban families, but even better for everyone here now and the low hanging fruit of 20s-30s and active seniors.
Agreed. Some will live DT. But for better or worse, most only will if we become truly unaffordable. Few families in DT Vancouver stay if homes are 650k in kitsalsno. Why fight the uphill battle? It's a growing consumer base that's not really flexible or elastic for location choices. Plus if you want non-office vibrancy, they're your best bet if we want a secondary Whyte Ave north of the river. Still think the Student Housing Initiative is going to be an underrated boost for downtown that'll fly under the radar for most observers, and will have a larger effect than most of the CRL initiatives. No doubt the lowest hanging fruit is the post-secondary student population.
