Anyone know where the "contaminated CRL sites" are?

Also if anyone else wondered:
There are currently 6 areas in the province with CRLs in place:

  1. Calgary Rivers District CRL established in 2008 and concludes in 2047
  2. Edmonton Quarters Downtown CRL established in 2012 and concludes in 2031
  3. Edmonton Belvedere CRL established in 2013 and concludes in 2032
  4. Cochrane South-Central CRL established in 2013 and concludes in 2032
  5. Edmonton Capital City Downtown CRL established in 2015 and concludes in 2034
  6. Airdrie Downtown CRL established in 2023 and concludes in 2042

City Releases Business Census Data

The City of Edmonton released the data from its second annual business census to help shape how the City supports businesses, attracts investment and improves services. This by-Edmonton, for-Edmonton data set showcases a vibrant and inclusive business community.

The data collected through the census is not only used to help inform City programs and policies but is valuable in positioning Edmonton as a great place to do business. Economic development partners and potential investors will better understand the business landscape and make informed decisions.

According to the Business Census, the municipal borders of downtown got an increase from 1,576 recorded businesses in 2023 to 1,632 businesses in 2024. Employment growth of 62,614 employees in 2023 to 69,353 in 2024. Good increase all around and probably why downtown feels busier last year.

It's worth noting that this isn't universal - and it reflects how rapidly Edmonton is attracting investment in comparison to national averages.

Not a big change for the number of business, but definitely an improvement. My sense is the number of people visiting downtown has also increased by much more than the number of businesses.
