@Northern Light - this becomes worse by the day now!

Where is our Major in this?
Lmao the ones on the way to Queen's Park.....

"Sources say Thursday’s provincial budget legislation will include the removal of the bike lanes on Queen’s Park Crescent, around the legislative precinct, and on Avenue Road south of Davenport Road."

For the benefit of "the people".

The city should respond wiht taking away a lane each way on Avenue to widen the sidewalks if this goes ahead. And perhaps close part of the west route of Queen's Park Crescent to connect Queen's Park to UofT for pedestrians better.

You take it north from the Queensway across the creek into Mississauga, and then into the hydro corridor, intersecting Mattawa, Dundas, and northwards. Part of that is already a multiuse path.
There is also the possibility I think of extending it northwards along the Little Etobicoke Creek towards Dixie GO and the Applewood trail. There is already a gravel path under the rail bridge to Mattawa Ave. The block at Mattawa and Dundas is being developed (Here's the project thread), and perhaps the path could be extended as part of that development. Past that, the section of the creek north of Dundas to Dixie Rd is already part of Mississauga's master cycling plan.

EDIT: Here is a map of what I mean.

If even you @Northern Light highly valued influencer has to give this kind of answer it shows how lost we are. Sad!

I don't think that's accurate.

But I still see value in you conveying your opinion to a decision maker.

If it makes you feel better, I don't think things are as challenging as they may look; take that for what you will.

But that doesn't mean I'm happy w./this on going 'drama' which I see as an unnecessary waste of time and money, irrespective of the outcome.

While I remain broadly supportive of the current Mayor, I am a bit underwhelmed on certain files.........

@Northern Light thank you for your response. We are very much underwhelmed by her performance. I met her a few times, but no answer of substance I got. Her son’s legacy is to built cycling infrastructure. She lets it go so easily? Sad family.

You are right we all need to write the Major. Had not much success with her. Mike Layton called me privately to have a serious discussion.

But now with our current politicians it’s hopeless!

You're Welcome.

Nothing is being let go, easily or otherwise, just yet.

Don't get ahead of where we're at. I'm not letting any cats out of bags in saying that there are ongoing discussions outside of the public realm, and there are reasons for keeping the substance of same mostly private for now.

You are right we all need to write the Major. Had not much success with her. Mike Layton called me privately to have a serious discussion.

When you have a good relationship with a Councillor that's plausible, although more difficult than it used to be with the smaller Council today.

But getting the Mayor's personal time is something most people can't get, that was true under John Tory and David Miller. Under Rob Ford you just might have gotten a call...........

The Mayor has a population of 3,000,000 and change to serve, if even 1% ask for a phone call, once a year, that would be 30,000 phone calls or more than 8 per day, every day of the year.

Be sure though, the Mayor has political staff who catalogue what people are writing about, and any response purporting to be from the Mayor would be signed off on by her.

But now with our current politicians it’s hopeless!

Things are far from hopeless. They are, at times, frustrating, and disappointing.

The York Boulevard entrance to Hamilton is coming along well, grass is in. The Eastbound side is still under construction all summer.

Edit: updated the privacy setting! sorry for all the drama, I fired off a short video from my bike commute after a night shift to show the construction progress, this was not indented to be my Sundance film festival entry guys 😂

York Boulevard integrates directly into both the Cannon St protected track across the city and the Plains Road system entering Burlington.
Thank you for the content, though it is funny seeing you go the wrong way 😆

I believe the Nine Creeks trail can't be extended because of the electrical infrastructure west of Stanfield Road. I like the other connections though. I think there's also been a linear park proposed south of the QEW between Ogden Ave and Applewood road, which could link into this (EDIT: though crossing Dixie south of the Queensway would be an issue).

I am now surprising myself by having good things to say about Metrolinx. They deserve respect for keeping the Don River trail open during the construction of the new bridges. This in contrast to whoever is in charge of the 401 construction further up north, where Betty Sutherland is closed for years with no alternatives offered.

In Montreal again, working, but really enjoying this first week of spring/summer. When not hotelling it downtown, I have a new lovely space to crash near Parc Baldwin, so a couple of blocks above Sherbrooke, close to Mont Royal. When not Bixie Biking, it is close to the bridge for points south and east of the river when i am ICEING it for the day.

Anyways, Bixie Bikes are great as usual, as are the separated bike lanes, as are no right turn on red lights at intersections. Doug Ford is at the beck and call of the 'only me first in my car' crowd. I just wish he could see the flocks of people scooting along major streets - school kids and younger to the more senior ages groups. In fact, and I should have taken a photo, there were backups of cyclers on the separated bike lanes on Rue Rachel the past couple of days. I guess its a routine happening and speaks to the volumes of people on two wheels. Time to expand the bike lanes! Or maybe a tunnel?

If I would grumble, ti would be the (seemingly) lack of good north/south routes, compared to the number of east/west routes. And why does Sherbrooke not have bike lanes (any lanes for that matter, paint seems to be in short supply in Montreal)?

I know Montreal is not perfect by any means (the health care system is a disaster) but there is a certain livability factor in the above, plus the neighbourhoods of 3/4/5 story walkups - density without towers, lovely living spaces with better then single family densities. Contrast that to Liberty Village (for an example) and you do question the need for that level of density.

Working from the crash pad today so Cappuccino time! Shout out to Croissant Croissant on Mont Royal and Toledo a little further along.
