Only changes seem to be the 501 counterpeak service (increased from 10 to 7.5 minutes) and the 511C changes which I can’t make the heads and tails of, in addition to the seasonal stuff.

Can’t say no to a frequency increase though

501C is getting a slight schedule decrease, but it’s summer and the loads to Humber and Sheridan Colleges are down.

It seems as if the 501s 5-minute peak direction service is becoming 7.5. The counterpeak frequency is still 10 minutes.

Also, for route 501, any idea if this is a seasonal change (I do recall the 501 operating every 10 minutes bidirectionally last summer), or more of a reliability adjustment?

Also for the change to 511C really does mess up overall headways, like at times there’s a 5 minute gap between buses, and others it’s 15 minutes, during rush hour. I don’t seem to recall them ever doing this before either.

City of Brampton and Zenobē announce historic partnership to electrify transit fleet in landmark UK-Canada collaboration
Sunday, Jun 15 2025, 06:00
Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown met United Kingdom Prime Minister in Ottawa to mark milestone agreement

BRAMPTON, ON AND LONDON, UK (June 15, 2025) – The City of Brampton today announced a landmark $4 billion partnership with Zenobē, a global fleet electrification and battery storage specialist headquartered in London, UK, to fully electrify Brampton Transit’s bus fleet — the largest zero-emission transit initiative in Canada.

The historic announcement was made today in Ottawa, where Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown and Zenobē leadership met with UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer to recognize the groundbreaking partnership between Canada and the United Kingdom, highlighting a model of international cooperation, foreign investment and public-private innovation.

The agreement will launch the first phase of a 10-year electrification framework that will ultimately see Brampton’s entire diesel-powered bus fleet replaced with up to 1,000 battery electric buses (BEBs), supporting more than 40 million annual passenger trips. Once complete, the program is expected to eliminate the majority of transit-related greenhouse gas emissions — which currently account for approximately 70% of the City’s corporate GHG emissions.

In addition to the significant environmental benefits, the partnership is expected to support 5,000 direct and indirect jobs across Canada and the United Kingdom and deliver $1 billion in foreign investment into Canada.

Today's announcement builds on the Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) investment of up to $400 million to support Brampton Transit’s purchase of up to 450 zero-emission buses (ZEBs) by 2027. The CIB’s financing contributes towards the upfront capital cost of the ZEBs, and more specifically battery electric buses, to help accelerate the electrification of the City’s bus fleet.

Thank you for sharing. This is what I love to see. Brampton Transit has a ways to go in some areas with better rapid transit for certain routes, but it makes me happy to see them making strides in other avenues.

The important thing here the announcement itself, one should note, 1,000 buses would be ~40% of the TTC's bus fleet there's a thought for you.

That said, I can't but help make a couple of observations about the photo....

1) Mr. Meersman is not looking happy to be there.............. and wow..........that brown suit.......straight out of 1977

2} Mayor Brown...........if you tie the tie properly, the tip should not be below your belt line......if that is unavoidable, that is why your suit jacket has buttons.

3) Ms. Younis appears to be the tallest person in the photo or at least tied w/the Mr. Boothman, nothing wrong w/that, but it is noteworthy.

For some reason, most schedules tools show that there was the addition of a 31A McVean in the last set of service changes, I’m not entirely sure of why it wasn’t announced, if it was meant for the next board period or if it actually operates. It seems like the routing is similar to the old 31 McVean (before it was gridlined to McVean), servicing Castlemore Rd and Goreway Dr.

Its frequency is apparently 65 minutes, from about 5:30 am to 9pm on weekdays, 8:30 am to 7:30 on Saturdays, and 9:30 am to 6 pm on Sundays

As posted elsewhere - NFI’s New Flyer secures order from Brampton Transit for additional 55 buses

New Flyer is going to be supplying:

20 XDE40's
and
35 XD60's.

No mention on whether the artics are going to be conventional or zum service, but the previous contract before it was cancelled did mention a number of artics for conventional service. Here's to hoping that this order provides some much needed relief.
