I'd much rather have the traditional PC party than the UCP. I didn't agree with a lot of their beliefs, but at least they believed in the importance of healthcare, education, and freedom of expression (they were much more live and let live). They also weren't trying to systematically dismantle the province for their own gain.

But unfortunately we are much too far down the path of partisanship in the province for a new party to gain any traction. The Alberta party is very similar and has been unsuccessful for multiple election cycles now

According to The Free Alberta Strategy Team (yes Virginia, there is such a thing :( ):

“For too long, Alberta has relied on a federal police force that ultimately answers to Ottawa - not to Albertans.

“That model might work for other provinces, but it’s never truly worked for us.

“We’ve said from the beginning that a free and self-governing Alberta must have full control over its own policing.

“This new agency doesn’t get us all the way there - but it moves us in the right direction.“

And who says she isn’t pandering to her base instead of governing Alberta for what it is - a province within the best country in the world and not a sovereign state.

Why is this "thing" going through with this when the NDP will reverse this decision when they get voted in anyway? What a waste of money.

Btw, hopefully, usually around K-Days - the AB government will announce a project or two will begin construction. So just to be clear, we are waiting for the following to break. Keep in mind, she has NOT started construction on a SINGLE project under her leadership in YEG:

Stand alone Stollery
2 X in patient towers for Mis and G. Nuns.
NAIT trades building
Norquest expansion building

What am I missing?

MacEwan has started. And the dt CRL projects better start happening ASAP.

But I agree with sentiment that province shortchanges us in many ways.

“Led by Premier Danielle Smith and a 15 member panel of UCP MLAs, business leaders, academics, and community representatives, this is part of a rigorous Government of Alberta consultation process.

“The goal is to shape Alberta’s future and strengthen our sovereignty within a united Canada. The panel is touring the province to hear how we can better protect ourselves from Ottawa’s attacks. A provincial referendum on some of these ideas is coming in 2026. What’s on that ballot will be informed by your feedback.

“Panelists will raise important ideas for discussion, including the Provincial Police Service, Alberta Pension Plan, tax collection changes, immigration, constitutional reform, and federal transfers and equalization.

“This is not a United Conservative Party event, but we know many of our supporters care deeply about these issues and may want to attend.”

Bwahahaha…

When you don’t know whether to laugh or cry, they say it’s better for you and your blood pressure to laugh.

Not a UCP event??? Of course not! Why would they waste their money when they can waste ours instead.
