Here are the questions from the APP survey for the Alberta Next panel. It makes you watch a 5 minute propaganda video, and does not allow you to respond "other" or disagree with the premise at all.

Regarding the first question, isn't this actually how a healthy pension system is supposed to work, with more younger workers paying in?

Alberta currently has more younger people than some other places in Canada for various legitimate reasons, this is not some nefarious plot against us.

It seems like some of the questions and answers here were written by or for conspiracy theorists.

Yep, the survey is designed to garner approval for the GoA's ideas no matter what people choose. I'm writing to my MLA about it, this is an extremely unethical way to conduct public engagement.

Another example of how Ol' Smitty and her Big Trump Daddy to the South are cut from the same cloth - they both think that Vote tabulators are an invention of the devil and have made up conspiracy theories around them.....so lets' count them by hand because of "Security" reasons as per her dimwitted henchman - Williams....

If it gives people jobs, I am not opposed.
More expensive, takes longer, and more susceptible to fraud. A few days worth of work every four years is not worth it. And if people need the work that badly, it would be a better outcome to just give the money to people and have them do nothing.

You got a couple million to give to the city and EPSB to cover it? This move will take money out of the classrooms as the school board has to foot their share. Stupid MAGA based electronic tabulation conspiracy crap, wasting our money. Fiscal conservatives indeed.

Alberta separatists have been beaten to the punch by Thomas Lukaszuk, who filed his application for a referendum petition first, so it gets considered first.

His Forever Canadian petition question is “Do you agree that Alberta should remain in Canada?” which contrasts sharply with the proposed Separatist question: “Do you agree that the province shall become a sovereign country and cease to be a province of Canada?”

It is unlikely the proposed separatists' application, if filed, would now even be considered because it is essentially the same question, just in the negative, which would run counter to the following restrictions:
  • The proposal is not the same or substantially similar to a proposal that is currently underway or would conflict with the outcome of a petition currently underway.
  • The proposal is not the same or substantially similar to a proposal determined to be unsuccessful in the previous 5 years, unless the Chief Electoral Officer has determined the previous petition to be unduly delayed taking advantage of this section of the legislation.

This is right. I'm not opposed to make-work, but it has to accomplish some real social good. Hand-counting ballots... does not.
