So 22 hospitals at a MIN of $1B per = $22B on the very low end for BC - versus 1 measly Podunk Red Deer hospital for AB. How is BC affording these new hospitals and we're not?
Long term debt. But its an investment. Its not just hospitals. So 22 hospitals at a MIN of $1B per = $22B on the very low end for BC - versus 1 measly Podunk Red Deer hospital for AB. How is BC affording these new hospitals and we're not?
This will have an effect on our doctor recruitment as well. Why work in AB for less money where our hospitals are falling apart (my last visit to Royal Alex had them holding up the IV bag with a tourniquet because the stands were all broken)?Long term debt. But its an investment. Its not just hospitals.

Sask is building 3 new hospitals, 3 LTC and a new Mental health Facility. Plus renos at other hospitals.
She's been absolutely rocked by the AHS scandal. There is no way she would put out a statement of support for the PM like that unless she knows she's used up all of her political capital.I am SHOCKED that 'Ol Smitty has gone against Big Daddy Trump and all of her BFF"s in DC with this statement....

Response to U.S. tariffs: Premier Smith
Premier Danielle Smith issued the following statement following the implementation of U.S. tariffs:www.alberta.ca
Just for a day or two...Long live the Smith-Trudeau alliance!![]()
It might change by next budget, but one reason it didn't get funded this go-around is that the have one more planning stage to get through first: functional planning. Since money first got set aside for the new Stollery, they've done a needs assessment, business case, etc. They only chose the location a month or two ago, and their current plan is to complete the functional plan in time to ask Treasury Board to approve construction funding in Budget 2026.My suspicion is despite the optimism of some, the Alberta government will continue to drag out the new Stollery project very, very slowly.
Maybe close the next election there will be more funding announced or even a start of construction, although I doubt that.
For whatever reasons, I think no new hospitals for us as long as the current bunch is in charge, which is too bad because they are badly needed.
At least we get some money now for a fan park and some other things.
Do we know who the new design team is.It might change by next budget, but one reason it didn't get funded this go-around is that the have one more planning stage to get through first: functional planning. I don't know that much. I don't think they're doing design until the functional planning is done, but I could be wrong.Do we know who the new design team is.
