There should be more given for the stollery though. 1m$ for planning is not going to get all that far.

100 million is definitely a reno. 250+ for a new building. I thought Delnor was doing the renos already.

Norwood health centre. There is a Primary care in the area. IanO and I both worked on it.

That was done about 19 years ago now. One of my first Consulting projects. Its now called east Edmonton Urgent Care Clinic.

My suspicion is despite the optimism of some, the Alberta government will continue to drag out the new Stollery project very, very slowly.

Maybe close the next election there will be more funding announced or even a start of construction, although I doubt that.

For whatever reasons, I think no new hospitals for us as long as the current bunch is in charge, which is too bad because they are badly needed.

At least we get some money now for a fan park and some other things.

For what it's worth, a new colleague at my workplace who was previously at the Stollery in a high level administrative role told me we are 10 years from having that hospital.

Probably a reno, but I would think a semi-major one. The building is literally falling apart, it needs a reno badly. Obviously a replacement would be preferable, but I wouldn't have even expected money for just a rework from the UCP.

Over the next three years, the Government of Alberta will invest $100 million to transform the Biological Sciences Building into a world-leading STEM and life sciences research and education hub to be named the Life Sciences Innovation and Future Technologies (LIFT) Centre. These funds will double much-needed lab spaces to 3,200, opening up access to high-demand programs across the university.

The U of A will contribute another $100 million to this project, which will help keep our province at the forefront of innovation, discovery, and cutting-edge education. LIFT will help to attract the best and brightest minds to the U of A and is projected to increase the U of A’s economic impact by an estimated $154 million in the first five years.

Other details:

In more good news for the U of A, Campus Saint-Jean will receive $4 million over the next two years for much-needed infrastructure support. Campus Saint-Jean serves a vital role as the only Francophone post-secondary institution in Alberta.

The U of A received just under $45 million in capital maintenance and renewal, a 7.2 per cent increase over last year. This includes a second year of funding for renovations to the Butterdome, with design work starting this spring and construction following later in 2025.

For a newly elected MLA, this is a very bold move tbh. Claiming you're not going to vote for the budget which if enough people do triggers an election, is a big no-no for the government caucus.

Although the "equalization to Edmonton and Alberta and if Sohi likes it, it's not good for Northern Alberta" argument is funny considering urban Alberta subsidizes rural Alberta.
