Wood Buffalo should petition to separate from Alberta.

This whole mess is being motivated by external forces, who are playing the internal rubes with promises of wealth and power. Basically, greedy people don't want to share. If that is the accepted state, then why should the ~107,000 residents of Wood Buffalo share their resources with the other ~5,000,000 freeloaders in the rest of Alberta?
To paraphrase what was said about Quebec separatism, if the country is divisible, so is the province. We shouldn't be surprised also if large parts of northern Alberta where many indigenous people live and have no or a poor relationship with the province would not be enthusiastic about leaving Canada. And it is northern Alberta that has much of our resource wealth.

So, in a written judgment, Justice Shaina Leonard ruled "the petition should never have been issued because the provincial government failed in its duty to consult with First Nations and Alberta’s separation would be a violation of treaty rights."

To which our Premier says “this decision is incorrect in law and anti-democratic, and we will be appealing it.”

Incorrect in law???

As far as I am aware, under common law, until overturned or reversed by a higher court, a court decision IS the law.

What a clown show. :(

Smith panders to one minority, while dismissing the rights of another. It is hypocrisy.

She also threatened to use the Notwithstanding Clause...but she can't since it involves the Indigenous and isn't a charter right.

She keeps saying she wants Alberta to stay in Canada...but then she says otherwise.

This clown show isn't even funny anymore. It's pure stupidity.
