Me too. I'll give the reigns to Doug once more, but with limitations and only after a humbling.

I wonder if Doug Ford would stay on with a minority. He would not be able to get away with most of what he did during the most recent term.

With the conclusion of the RCMP investigation forthcoming, a minority government would put him at risk of being toppled or worse should he be found to have committed wrongdoing.

I could reluctantly accept a PC minority if it results in Thug getting turfed once and for all. I'm sick to death of "Ford Nation".

Me too. I think Doug, basking in the brief media adoration of his Captain Canada role in the absence of a PM, may have misjudged public opinion.

The question is, have Ontarians sufficiently forgiven or forgotten whatever they thought of the OLP under Mother Wynne? Is the Crombie OLP a different animal?

What Captain Canuck may not realize is that the OLP was in power 7 years ago and in that time, Doug Ford has had his fair share of scandals, corruption, etc.

Bonnie Crombie is liked in the Western 905 and there are plenty of other people in Northern Ontario that would vote for the OLP or NDP. Toronto is a crapshoot but if framed correctly the OLP could take a few seats.

If Bonnie Crombie can differentiate herself from Kathleen Wynne it would be smooth sailing for her.

If I was Crombie, I'd be calling Wynne and asking her to take a vacation until March. She's doing the radio talk show circuit and every time I hear Wynne's voice I cringe a little. It's a little reminder that Mother is still there in the shadows.

Perhaps Marit Stiles can call up Bob Rae to even the playing field?

Why is Doug Ford calling an election now, unless he wants to lose??

He'll piss off enough people just with this.

He's already pissed off many Conservatives by going against Trump, unlike Alberta's Premier.

Liberals/NDP/Green won't vote for him.

And neutral people remember him shutting down the Science Centre.

This seems intentional...

I shook Doug Ford's hand at City Hall waiting for a signed Rob Ford bobblehead.

I sincerely hope that projects like the Ontario Line and Northlander restoration are contractually too far along, that cancelling them would be a boondoggle, like Wynne left a legacy with Line 6.

338Canada projections released today. Can't imagine this doesn't change now that the campaign has started

338Canada projection showing the PC party with 42% in the lead, and seat projection of 91, with NDP at 18 and Liberals at 12

55.94% of eligible Ontario voters did not bother to vote in the 2022 general election. Turnout was 44.06%.

In 1990, 35.55% did not vote, and the NDP won that general election. Turnout was 64.45%.

So maybe if you want someone other than Doug Ford as Premier, the turnout needs to be high.

As per usual, a clear majority of voters do not support the party that will form a majority government if those numbers hold. FPTP FTW!
Depends on how much weight you'd like to put on aggregators, but if you plug these numbers into 338's simulator you get the PCs only four seats above majority, which differs quite a bit from what Mainstreet predicts.

Edit - I'm noticing that Mainstreet's dashboard doesn't take into account incumbent independent seats, which seems like an oversight given that one is likely tracking to be re-elected and another has a good shot at being re-elected.

Bonnie Crombie out with a major campaign plank.

Platform Edge Doors for everyone...... well, for every TTC Station.

Along with more special constables and mental health crisis teams.

* worth noting here, you can only implement this at stations with ATC and where trains have same. So this can only be a Line 1 promise in the near term.
