Super excited for Simons, and glad that it's opening a lot sooner than I expected! I love the Square One location so much, and having another location at Yorkdale now just makes sense to me with what Simons has to offer. I will be visiting the weekend after it opens!
Good for you. Simon’s is a very nice store. Could that retail be a good candidate to fill in the former Hudson’s bay at Scarborough town centre and Sherway?

I would say those former Hudson's Bay stores represent opportunities for Simons to open new stores, but Sherway Gardens is relatively close to their existing store at Square One. However, considering Sherway Gardens currently lacks large-scale anchor tenants, they might consider it based on store performance.

As for Scarborough Town Centre, the former Hudson's Bay store is quite large at over 250,000 square feet, larger than the former Nordstrom at the Eaton Centre, so if Oxford wants Simons to open a store there, they would have to partition the space with other tenants, as CF did at the Eaton Centre.

It's possible they could occupy some of the vacant space, unlikely it would be the entire stores just due to a Simons being smaller in general than an HBC store. However, I wouldn't expect them to move into either of those locations any time soon. Simons is not a company that does aggressive expansion in general. They generally only open one store at a time (the current situation with 2 Toronto stores opening is unusual for them, and probably is only happening because it's in the 2 most important malls in Toronto (and arguably in all of Canada), both of which they have been eyeing for a long time (I think their CEO said they wanted to move into Yorkdale as far back as 2018). After those open they're probably going to want to take some time to see if Toronto makes sense for additional locations. Additionally, it's very likely their next store is going to be in Vancouver, as they currently only have one store in Metro Vancouver, at Park Royal in West Vancouver (there have been rumours of the Pacific Centre Nordstrom getting partitioned the way the TEC Nordstrom did, with Simons as one of the tenants there). So I'd guess we're a few years from a 3rd Toronto Simons at a minimum.

Yup - I would love Simons at Sherway but it's so close to Sq1. I can't see it happening.

I wonder if the other new Simons will have any additional beauty/makeup (to fill the void of Hudson Bay/Nordstorm closure) or just clothes & some home? or what about a cafe?

Based on this screenshot of Oxford's leasing plan from May, it looks as if Simons is taking over all three levels and 189,000 square feet of the former Nordstrom space:

Speaking of Simons, they have taken down the exterior hoarding as the store will be opening in 2 weeks:

Gucci is opening a 12,000 square-foot standalone store adjacent to Loro Piana in the centre of the mall next year, across from the upcoming Dior store:

Or the perception of the lifestyle is why luxury brands keeps the middle class poor. 🫥

Wondering how many shops are being relocated at Yorkdale Mall to get ready for redevelopment? The Hudson's Bay old store could be available.
