Taco Bell is opening in Dine on 3 soon
They've been over-expanding at a rapid and reckless pace. The mochi donut concept works for cutesy food festivals and pop ups. But the general public will get tired of them quickly and the novelty will wear off, just like with past food fads in the city like Uncle Tetsu cheesecakes, iHalo Krunch ice cream, etc. Especially at the price of what they're selling them at. Signing a lease at Yorkdale may be a death knell for the franchise.
I'm surprised they didn't simply merge Taco Bell and KFC into one location, like some food court locations.Taco Bell is opening in Dine on 3 soon
I'm predicting the gourmet cupcake craze from back in the mid 2000s, will be making a come back soon. People love expensive novelty junk food fads!

This is a big one. First store in Toronto and now that The Bay is gone, they are the last nationwide department store chain. I plan to go shortly after it opens.Simons is opening at Yorkdale on August 14th.

MEC just sold itself again. So I'd say their involvement in anything going forward is questionable. From what I understand, Simons is the new Bay. (with no relation to the actual bay, respectfully)
The big mystery now is, what's going to become of the space in Yorkdale where Bay once stood?
I'm strictly guessing MEC might want some of the space, since MEC was already renting space there, but had to leave when Bay closed.
Sorry, I thought they were going to have a "Beauty & Wellness" section in the store. This is online only? https://www.simons.ca/en/fabrique-1840/beauty-wellness--8757Also I think Simons is closer to a replacement for Nordstrom than the Bay in terms of Toronto stores (not just in terms of locations), Simons only sells adult clothing and very limited homewares. No children's section, furniture is online only (some housewares are in store but it is mostly decorative), no cosmetics floor, no appliances, etc. HBC stores were far bigger than what Simons offers. Both the new Simons stores are much smaller than the Nordstrom stores they are replacing.
So I would very much say Simons is not the "New Bay" as it barely resembles The Bay at all (and so far isn't taking any of their retail spaces)
