I would guess it's more probable that they've given up actively trying to lure a buyer for now, and decided to wait for a later time when they could be more likely to attract one.

Nobody wants to buy a cursed mall that was built on Indian Burial Ground.

The next step would be renovating the mall and dropping the bidding price to attract potential sales.

The mall...needs a HUGE renovation...I suggest glass railings throughout the 2nd floor looking down on the first floor

Why, because that's what the Eaton Centre and every other frickin' mall did? C'mon man.
Bro, woodbine mall in 1985/1986 was better than every mall at the time...even square one was trying to copy woodbine mall in its 1986 renovations...woodbine mall is far behind now...even westwood mall was able to get a decent renovation...woodbine mall can too

It's passed the point of renovation. At this point it needs to be redeveloped, likely including some residential.
As long as the rides are kept indoors, that will be good. Outside of that, the mall should maybe be the next "Shops Don Mills" style, with many outdoor stores.
New condos and all. Throw in a grocery store to compete with the guy across the street, and it all fits in well. (maybe?)

Most of the mall needs to be demolished. There is simply too much square footage available for any profit to be made, especially when retail is seeing some of its most challenging times ever. A supermarket and pharmacy in the current format of the mall won’t make a difference in the bottom line. The malls infrastructure is also a concern. I know there has been massive plumbing issues over the years and everything has been covered up by cheap renovations. The cost to repair, clean and renovate would only make sense if a vision and business plan was presented to potential tenants and they bought. I just don’t see what’s in it for a name brand to open up in these times at Woodbine. Imagine the struggles Sherway, a successful mall nearby, will have redeveloping and making use of 3 anchor spaces - Hudson’s Bay, Sake and Nordstrom. All gone!

If Loblaws doesn't want to put a Real Canadian Superstore & Joe Fresh on the land where the Bay is now, maybe Walmart might be interested in a Walmart superstore...something Loblaws might be trying to prevent... (I said might)
since they already own the grocery store across the street and might not want any competition.

Nah its needs a deep cleaning...THEN a huge renovation...the mall is lacking rexall & a big supermarket...THERE woodbine mall is saved!

The last time I was at the Woodbine, an older woman asked where the 'drug store' was. Another visitor responded
"it's not here anymore". When Shoppers Drug Mart leaves your mall, then you know you're in trouble.

If Woodbine puts a supermarket in it's current state ...Woodbine is going to turn into Martin Grove Mall; the smell of fish
permeating the entire property.

In fact, the previous owner already tried that with (what's left of) the Rexdale Plaza. It's not a pretty sight.

Rexall was recently sold to Birch Hill. Not sure if there is any plan to open new stores. (ie might not have any plan to open in Woodbine mall)
However, one thing that might entice them is if a walk in clinic were to open in the mall...

What I find crazy is the albion mall will have more anchore stores with Canadian Tire and No frills than Sherway and Woodbine.
