Yup. It's tough to replace a main anchor store. When Wal-Mart moved out of the Woolco store (to a purpose-built store at Morningside/401) that was it.

They were pretty decent... even further back; up at Albion mall there was "The Jolly Friar" So so good.. but with changing areas and aging proprietors... stores shut down.Who here remembers "London Style Fish & Chips" in the food court? Didn't they have other locations as well?
I'm praying for a SIMONS store or clearance centre. God help us all if Larry the liquidator or any liquidation place moves in...there's more than enough of that already in the area. (Mall + also, store across the street!)Well, that’s it for Hudson’s Bay. After June, another massive dormant space.
Or maybe the old off saks near SherwayThere is no way Simon’s will put their name on this property. They are extremely picky with selecting their locations and are very patient when it comes to expansion. Even as a clearance centre one day, they would select a space that is among other popular brands for the exposure and foot traffic. Think Vaughan Mills or Heartland Centre concepts.
Well, that leaves Marshall's downstairs and Homesense upstairs, maybe, but that won't happen because there's already a Winners across the street. There is no way Simon’s will put their name on this property. Part of the complication is that Woodbine mall has to compete with land across the street. Businesses most likely won't want to duplicate themselves. Staples is most likely quite happy where they are, so they're not going to move into the mall. (to name one example)I agree. They’re done and the fair should be saved as part of a larger redevelopment. The only way I see some retail sticking around is if a community is built within it - condos. A part of the mall can be saved for essential services, pharmacy, groceries, food concepts, etc. This condo concept is underway at Sherway, Yorkdale as well as other Toronto properties so it would be interesting. Though the economic climate and market is not very ripe right now.
Or even the old saks 5th ave in Sherway since they’re closing alsoOr maybe the old off saks near Sherway
that would be great news...the mall needs a renovation and more department storesSomething I noticed is the link on colliers website for the sale of woodbine mall no longer works. I wonder If it means anything. Maybe mall has been sold ?
