CHAT GPT informs:

"The translation of "Warehouse Park" into Cree depends on the specific dialect and how the concept is expressed in Cree. A possible translation could be:
"Mîskanaw Waskahikanîwiwîw"
  • Mîskanaw – refers to a road or path (often linked to industry or movement).
  • Waskahikanîwiwîw – refers to a building (warehouse-like structure).
Alternatively, a more descriptive version could be:
"Waskahikan Opâskâw Paskwâw"
  • Waskahikan – house/building (can imply a warehouse).
  • Opâskâw – storage-related.
  • Paskwâw – open land/park.
Would you like it adjusted for a specific dialect (e.g., Plains Cree, Woods Cree, etc.)?"

Opâskâwaskahikan could work. Rolls off the tongue better

I agree we should not be slavishly naming things after people or aboriginal names that is why The Boiler Room would make a refreshing change. I’m pretty certain Mordecai Richler meant it as a slur but I think it is an apt description of Edmonton literally and figuratively. We are the one city no one wants to think about or have to deal with and yet we are literally the major energy supplier to most of Western Canada and beyond.

Nothing wrong with Warehouse District Park.

Why are we so obsessed with naming things after people? Or giving it a cree name because it's the politically correct thing to do?

Warehouse District Park itself is reference to the local history of that area. Leave it alone.
I agree - Edmonton has been too concerned with virtue signalling to announce how progressive and sophisticated it is - but having places hardly anyone can pronounce just comes across as silly and provincial.
