7:30 AM video conference?

Is there a union or other contract to rubber stamp?
When has there been an 7:30 am meeting before this one??

With community council meetings all day Wednesday and Thursday, and Eid on Friday, it might be what makes to have the CEO in place before the TTC subcommittee meetings on Monday. With video conferencing, a 15-minute meeting at that time isn't such a big deal. Hopefully all the councillors have their cameras off while brushing their teeth! :)

Grok is insistent that no meeting has started before 10 AM before. Though I'd take that with a large sack of salt.

It probably means it is expected to be very short - mandatory - meeting, squeezed in before others. As I suspected...

Mandeep Lali has been confirmed as the new CEO of the TTC.

This was approved at the meeting noted above this morning and publicly confirmed by the Mayor a few minutes ago.

Interesting bio. I hope this is a win for TTC elevator reliability.

Lali joins the TTC after three years as a senior executive in charge of subway operations with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority in New York, according to his LinkedIn profile. Lali began his career at Transport for London, the transit agency that operates the London Underground subway system, where he worked for 13 years, Myers said when introducing Lali at the press conference. From Transport for London, Lali left to work at Otis Elevator, a global elevator company, as an executive board director for seven years.

I know nothing of Lali, only what people tell me. I hope he will be more than just a pretty face, and actually have the urgency to fix the present day shortcomings of the TTC.

Wow, the first time in history a city department didn't hire the absolute worst person for the job! I have my fingers crossed for positive change!

Took the Eglinton bus just now, and none of the buses were able to enter the station. The drivers don’t seem to know anything and it seems like it’s been going on for some time. OFC the TTC alerts website has nothing to warn passengers this

Well there goes fabric seats, and any sense of comfort on TTC buses going forward:

I can't wait until people post on Reddit about seeing them dirty and asking why they don't have someone who can wipe them off at the end of the line or how they need to take the bus out of service to clean them.

Not surprising.

A similar reason was given for the H series seats in that they were hard to clean. That and they were somewhat of a fire hazard.

It sucks but it's not like we are going from H4 to H5 seating.

Honestly I have to agree that H4 style and NYC style seats are the better option for transit in terms of being easy to clean (and in NYC's case, vandalproof). They might as well switch to NYC seats, not like the current ones are significantly more comfortable anyway.

The original H5/6 seating was basically the same as the H4 in terms of seat covering, but without benches.

That and they were somewhat of a fire hazard.
And how is the current cloth fabric any less of a fire hazard (if not more so)?
